Will Kamala Harris go back on her $15 minimum wage promise? Internet says 'Save Us Kamala hashtag is hilarious'
Last week, Democrats backed down from an effort to use President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief bill to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour without Republican support. But now, the internet is questioning Vice President Kamala's Harris who promised to increase the minimum wage to $15 an hour to the citizens during her election campaigns.
Over the weekend, Senate Democrats gave up on the idea of attempting to pass the wage hike by adding tax penalties to the Covid-19 bill, after earlier being told Senate rules governing “reconciliation” prevented them from including a straight-up wage hike to the legislation. There are also political hurdles: Some moderate Democrats, including Senator Joe Manchin, have rejected the $15 figure as too high and suggested an $11 target could be more realistic. Previously, during the campaign trail, Harris promised that she'll be providing the Americans a minimum wage of $15.

Requesting Harris to include the minimum wage to $15 an hour, one person tweeted: "I will never say this again. But please, #SaveUsKamala. You can overrule the senate parliamentarian and save the minimum wage. You haven’t done one good thing as a politician, maybe you can change that." While another one said, "#saveUsKamala or keep we will remember when you run for President in 4 years! @KamalaHarris #fightfor15 #tytlive"
