After their military efforts received an unprecedented setback from the Ukrainian troops, Russia is now desperately trying to infiltrate the capital city of Kyiv. Satellite images released by US-based Maxar Technologies showed a 40-mile long Russian military convoy slowly proceeding towards Kyiv. Additionally, photos of additional ground forces and attack helicopter units were also spotted near the Ukraine border.

On Monday, Putin violated several international protocols as he unleashed devastating vacuum bomb and cluster bomb attacks on the city of Kharkiv. More than 11 civilians were killed in the bombing, including three children. Another cluster bomb strike on a nursery school caused the death of as many as 16 kids, leaving 116 more severely injured. Putin has also threatened Ukraine with nuclear warfare as he reportedly alerted the nuclear warheads in his country.

According to Maxar Tech, the Russian military convoy entering Kyiv started from the Antonov airbase. It was spotted as far as the town of Pribyrsk, near the Ukraine-Belarus border, and the abandoned town of Chernobyl, which Russia invaded on the second day of the war.

Insider sources from the White House told CNN that they were closely monitoring the convoy. US intelligence sources also told that there are chances of the second wave of Russian attacks on Kyiv, which might trump the Ukrainian resistance. In fact, 75 per cent of Russian forces previously stationed at the borders are now well within the country. Other sources also predicted to CNN that there might be ugly scenes of urban warfare as Russia plans to seize power in Kyiv.

Meanwhile, Ukraine fears the worst phase of the war as Russian forces continue indiscriminate killings and resort to merciless warfare tactics. Kyiv Mayor and former heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko told CNN that Kyiv would hold out against Russian attack as "long as we can survive."

Klitschko called on the citizens of Kyiv urging them to seek shelter soon as "tonight will again be difficult."

"We never were so patriotic. I have never been so proud of our soldiers. Our soldiers are heroes. Civilians are building defenses. People are taking weapons and are ready to defend our homes, defend our families, our future, and our country," Klitschko said emotionally.

"I am really proud. The army is not interested in how strong the Russian army is. We are ready to fight and ready to die for our home. Because it is our future. Somebody wants to come to our home and steal our future from us," he added, noting, "We don't want the Soviet Union back. We want a free, democratic country. We are fighting for that - fighting for our dream."
