SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA: In what was described by authorities as "a tragic case of domestic violence, murder-suicide," a 31-year-old man killed his estranged wife and three of his four children - leaving the fourth one in critical condition - before turning the gun on himself, in less than 24 hours.

After receiving a 911 call on Saturday, November 16, from a neighboring relative, where no one talked to the dispatcher but snippets of argument and what appeared to be a nail gun being shot could be heard, the San Diego Police Department responded to Flintridge Drive in the Paradise Hills neighborhood of the city.

After no one answered the door, responding officers peered through the door and upon finding a child covered in blood, broke through the front entrance. José Valdivia and Sabrina Rosario, 29, along with their son Enzie, 3 was declared dead at the scene, while their other children Zuriel, 5 and Zeth, 11, died after being transported to the hospital.

A fourth child, 9-year-old Ezekiel, was reportedly in a critical condition as of Saturday evening.

Investigators believed that "the male came over this morning, there was some kind of argument or disagreement and he used a handgun and shot his family before turning the gun upon himself."

According to the New York Times, less than 24 hours before the tragic incident, Sabrina had sought a restraining order against her estranged husband. The couple, who were once high school sweethearts had recently filed for divorce, which was yet to be finalized, Sabrina's sister, Jocelyn, told NBC7

She added that José had been stalking Sabrina, and had sent her photographs of a gun. The estranged husband reportedly did not want a divorce and kept telling his wife that he was having suicidal thoughts.

José is the only person named as a suspect in the case and no other suspects are being considered at the time.
