Samantha Miller death: GoFundMe for groom Aric Hutchinson raises whopping $719,636 in 2 weeks
FOLLY BEACH, SOUTH CAROLINA: The fundraiser for the groom of Samantha Miller who was tragically killed after a 25-year-old drunk driver Jamie Lee Komoroski slammed into the newlywed couple’s golf cart, has touched $719,636 in just two weeks out of its $100,000 goal. The GoFundMe page, started by the groom’s mother Annette Hutchinson on May 9, saw thousands of donors contributing to help her pay for Samantha’s funeral costs and cover her son's medical expenses.
While Samantha lost her life, Aric survived the incident but sustained severe injuries and had to be transported to a hospital, where he underwent multiple surgeries. The page shared the details of the incident writing, "Aric lost the love of his life when my new daughter-in-law Samantha “Sam" Hutchinson was tragically killed by a drunk driver moments after the picture above while leaving her wedding reception on April 28th in Folly Beach, South Carolina. My son is now in critical condition."

Details of the incident
According to an affidavit, the fatal crash took place on the 1200 block of East Ashley Avenue around 10.15 pm on April 28, 2023. Samantha and Aric were just two blocks away from their home when their cart was hit, just a few hours after their wedding. Samantha’s sister, Mandi Jenkins, said, as per ABC 4 News, "We were in our pajamas sitting on the balcony beside Bert's at our place where we're staying and started to hear the sirens. And the sirens kept going." They dropped a message to Samantha but did not get any reply. Samantha's mother Lisa Mille said, "We just went down to the scene. And we just got out of the truck and just running. Screaming Sam, Sam," while Mandi described, "Caution tape, so many lights, it was dark. But there were so many lights."
Aric's mother detailed the incident, adding on the fundraiser page, "My son-in-law Benjamin Garrett and grandson Brogan Garrett from Morgan, Utah were escorting the couple from the reception in a golf cart when they were struck from behind by a drunk driver traveling 65 MPH in a 25 MPH zone. The golf cart was thrown over 100 yards and rolled several times. Sam died from her injuries. Aric is in serious condition and has had one of two reconstruction surgeries, numerous broken bones, and a brain injury, he will have a long recovery."

According to Folly Beach Public Safety, Jamie, the female driver who was behind the wheels that hit the cart, has been charged with three counts of felony DUI resulting in great bodily harm or death, and one count of reckless homicide. Jamie who reportedly reeked of alcohol refused to take a sobriety test and is now placed on suicide watch at Charleston County jail in South Carolina after she told an officer at the hospital that she wanted to kill herself, as per New York Post.
