'sMothered' Season 5: Mary reveals she wants Brittani to date doctor after boyfriend TJ 'cringes' at mother-daughter showering together

Mary Colombo does not hate Brittani's new boyfriend but does not think he is the right man for her

JENSEN BEACH, FLORIDA: The relationship between a mother and a daughter, which is usually seen as a holy and natural tie, may be carried to extremes, as demonstrated in TLC's 'sMothered.' Season 5 of 'sMothered' marks the return of the duo of Mary Rose Colombo and Brittani Cooper, who made quite a stir in the sophomore round a few years ago.

Although the Florida residents appear to be closer than ever, their relationship is put to the test when Brittani allows her boyfriend, TJ to take up some of the space that she previously occupied alone with her mother.

Fans naturally want to understand more about Mary and Brittani's lives, given the increased number of obstacles and heightened complexity of their relationship.

Mother Mary claimed last season that she showers with her adult daughter Brittani every morning, and she even scrubs her back and washes her hair as if she were a small kid. While others may find Mary's actions intrusive, Brittani claimed she enjoys their regular shower ritual.

In a teaser clip for the December 19 episode, Brittani was seen assuring her lover that she no longer showers with her mother. However, Mary quickly explained that she may still be lurking in a bathtub while her daughter showers.

In a confessional, Mary urged Brittani to contact her if she ever needs help in the shower. "I'll wash your hair," she offered. "I'll wash your back. I'll wash your Stinky Hiney."

Later, Mary shouted at TJ, declaring she would hop in the shower with her daughter if she wanted to.

TJ found it "cringey," but Mary told him to get accustomed to it since "I'm going to be around for a very long time. Probably, longer than you."

Mary, in a separate confessional, revealed that she likes TJ, but she doesn't think he is the right one for Brittani.

As she talked about TJ and Brittani dating, Mary said she envisions her daughter with a "handsome man" with a "rock-hard body."

She would also like her daughter's boyfriend to be able to talk in a foreign language and would like it if the potential boy was studying to be a doctor or a lawyer.

Who is 'sMothered' Season 5 star Mary Rose Colombo?

Mary was born on May 5, 1964, in Southbury, Connecticut, and had a happy childhood with her sisters Paula and Jerry Colombo. Sheba, as she was often known, attended New Milford High School and graduated in 1982.

She attended Western Connecticut State University to continue her education. Soon after, she married a former police investigator who ran a thriving detective business in Connecticut, only for them to split a few years later.

In 1990, she began working as a licensed private investigator with Glenn J Cooper Detective Agency, Inc. She was a model and actress in Florida for a brief period of time.

Notably, she also has two more children, Tyler Ray Pitcher and Felicia Colombo, in addition to Brittani.

Prior to 'sMothered', Mary appeared in another reality show, 'Vegas Divas', in 2018 or 2019. She was thinking about moving to Sin City at the time.

Brittani, who was born in 2000, has a tight relationship with her mother, Mary, in Florida. This close bond she has with her mother has been the norm since she was a youngster and couldn't bathe on her own.

While there is no doubt about Brittani's closeness with her mother, she had issues with Mary's divorced ex-husband as well as her next lover, Frank. According to her, he disapproved of their intimate friendship and wished to separate them.

Brittani competed in countless beauty pageants as a youngster and has won over 200 awards and crowns. On the negative side, she suffers from congenital adrenal hyperplasia, which she has discussed on the show.
