How did the investigation unveil?

The investigation began in July 2020 when authorities were notified of the sexual assaults between Clark and a juvenile. A second possible victim was also discovered. However, police haven't given out full details of the crime or the investigation. Meanwhile, the sexual misconduct took place over more than a year and Clark was arrested one day after the investigation against him began in 2021.

What is the response from The Office of District Attorney?

On Facebook, the Office of District Attorney wrote, "On March 14, Ryan Clark was sentenced to serve a total of 35 years with the Department of Corrections for the felony charges of Second-Degree Rape when the victim is prevented from resisting due to force or threats, two counts of Molestation of a Juvenile- under 13 and Sexual Battery, according to Twenty-first Judicial District Attorney Scott M Perrilloux."

Further, the post read, "The first 25 years of his sentence is to be served without benefits, and he will receive credit for time served. He also must make no contact with the victims, register as a sex offender for life, forfeit all parental rights to all children and submit to chemical castration upon release.34-year-old Ryan Clark pleaded guilty to the four felony charges earlier this month, on March 1, the morning after the jury was selected. He pleaded before and was sentenced by the Honorable Brian K Abels with Assistant District Attorney Alexis Taylor as prosecutor."

The post also stated, "On July 16 of 2020, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office was notified of indecent behavior between Clark and a juvenile by a person the victim had confided in. The person also explained this behavior had taken place for more than a year. The juvenile was then interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy Center in Hammond and was able to detail the incidents. A possible second victim was also discovered. From the information provided, a warrant was secured for Clark’s arrest, and he was taken into custody by TPSO on July 17 for the charges of Sexual Battery and Molestation of a Juvenile. With the discovery of more information, he was later charged with First-Degree Rape as well."

The post then claimed, "On Feb 12 of 2021, Clark was indicted by a grand jury for First-Degree Rape when the victim is under 13, two counts of Molestation of a Juvenile and Sexual Battery. On the first day of March of this year, he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of Second-Degree Rape when the victim is prevented from resisting due to force or threats, two counts of Molestation of a Juvenile- under 13 and Sexual Battery. Clark also has a prior conviction of Misdemeanor Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile for receiving oral sex in a public place from a minor. He was sentenced to 128 days in the parish jail for that charge in 2015. Please contact Public Information Officer AnaClaire McKneely for more information."

What is chemical castration?

Chemical Castration involves injecting medroxyprogesterone acetate, a drug that suppresses a man’s sex drive by reducing testosterone levels. The drug used in the injection was made legal in Louisiana in 2008. Former Governor Bobby Jindal signed the bill into law to impose drug treatments on those found guilty of certain crimes, including molestation of a juvenile, aggravated rape, forcible rape, second-degree sexual battery, aggravated incest, and aggravated crime against nature. Meanwhile, Sen. Regina Barrow proposed a bill to allow surgical castration of sex offenders convicted of sex crimes involving victims under the age of 13. However, this proposal was later on shelved, as per Fox 8 Live.
