Will the Russo Brothers return to MCU with Wolverine movie? 'That would be a fun project to work on'
If the Russo Brothers get their wish, they'd probably bring back the Wolverine as their next MCU project. The directors of the colossal 'Avengers: Endgame' shed light on their return to making Marvel movies, although they did highlight that they were "focused" on AGBO, their production house that's set to roll out the much-awaited 'The Gray Man' and 'Electric Slate'.
Apart from 'Endgame', the duo co-directed three blockbusters — 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' (2014), 'Captain America: Civil War' (2016', and 'Avengers: Infinity War' (2018). In their interview with AP Entertainment, they fancied the idea of a Wolverine flick when asked if they'd return to the MCU with an 'X-Men' movie.

"Wolverine being so essential to the X-Men, of course, that would be a fun project to work on and find a new way into it," Joe Russo said. "But, I do think that that's probably something that [Marvel Studios President and Marvel Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige] has rightfully put aside for a while to introduce some new characters to the world, and bring that back when it's ready."
He also said they were open to a Marvel return: "We're always open to it. We love those guys. I think, you know, you never say never. And if the right story lines up at the right time, we'll all go back to work."
At the moment, there is no official update about the mutants foraying into the MCU, although Patrick Stewart did reprise his role as Professor Charles Xavier aka Professor X in this year's 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness'.
There have already been three Wolverine movies starring Hugh Jackman as the titular character. The third installment titled 'Logan' gave a fitting and emotional farewell to the iconic X-Men character who also teamed up with fellow mutants in six X-Men films. If the Russo Brothers indeed do return, chances are this might be a reboot with a new actor at the helm.
