'Run' Episode 3, appropriately titled 'F**k', sees Ruby and Billy finally shed their masks and clothes
'Run' Episode 3 is about Billy and Ruby finally ending the moratorium to answer questions about each other to know each other better to ensure that they can finally have sex without any constriction. Billy is somehow hesitant to even kiss Ruby because of the moral conflict in his head. Ruby is a mother and married to a man who she is still together with. If they were to "f**k" now it cannot be undone, as Billy puts it. So for him to cross this mental threshold, not only does he need more information from Ruby, but he must also confess his truth to her as well.
In episode 2, we had seen that Ruby's accounts and cards had all been frozen by her husband and how she didn't have an individual account. As a result, she is unable to do anything but thankfully, Billy has also gotten off the train, so she depends on him to help her make the next move. The two of them also decide that they will take a day to spend time together before they make a decision about returning to their lives and it is this decision that marks a twist in the tale.
First, the two of them book a room. Sadly though, Ruby is penniless and Billy is scared of using his cards because he feels that his assistant Fiona is stalking him using his spending. So Billy decides to encash all the money in his account. For some reason, he is worried about someone else being able to withdraw the money from his account and at this point, after having seen how Fiona is able to track every move of his, we can guess that there is more going on between the two of them.
It is this cash that plays a huge role in Billy confessing his truth to Ruby. While he is busy at the bank, Fiona poses as Alice and helps Ruby run from a clothing store with an expensive dress. It is unclear when Fiona realized Ruby was the one accompanying Billy at this point, but she has made Ruby's acquaintance. Billy is unaware of this, and he goes to try and get Ruby to spill more about her life when he meets her again this time loaded with cash.
She confesses about her husband Lawrence, and their relationship. How the two of them never fight and more. From what she says, it seems like the two are in a platonic relationship. Then she also tells him that she is not a hotshot architect like she had claimed, but a woman who began having panic attacks at work. She says she quit her job and began to fantasize about a life where she was two different women. One who would fit in with the life with Lawrence and another that would fit right in with Billy.
However, Billy continues to maintain a kind distance from Ruby still. She notices it when he runs out of the room to get a bottle of champagne instead of calling in the room service. Ruby obviously finds this strange and she ends up going through Billy's things and finds all the cash that he has hidden in the bag. While Ruby does this, Billy confronts Fiona and tells her that he is no longer interested in associating with her or doing a tour. When she threatens that he will be sued for his actions, he doesn't care. After all, he has withdrawn all his money.
What he doesn't realize is that Fiona is not ready to let go of him. She will even go to the extent of following him to his room and secretly recording his conversation with Ruby as he confesses the truth about the fiasco he is running away from as she waits at the door. After seeing Ruby sitting on the bed with money strewn all over, Billy confesses how something that he had said as a part of being a life coach had ended up hurting someone and how he reacted to it. He ends up blurting it all out and that more than anything is what changes the tone of the sexual tension between Ruby and Billy.
It changes swiftly into something more intimate and the clothes come off along with the masks that the two characters had on until now. Where will this lead and how will Fiona use the recording? That would be interesting to see.
New episodes of 'Run' will air on Sundays on HBO.
