Rudy Giuliani to Sidney Powell, Donald Trump's legal team to prove voter fraud trolled: 'What a circus'
The situation surrounding the US elections just seems to get more heated each day. President Donald Trump has been insisting without evidence that the election was stolen from him even when election officials from both parties say there has been no conspiracy. Trump is trying to his best to change the election outcome and wants those he views as "fighters" making his case.
In his latest tweet, President Donald Trump introducing his legal team wrote: “I look forward to Mayor Giuliani spearheading the legal effort to defend OUR RIGHT to FREE and FAIR ELECTIONS! Rudy Giuliani, Joseph diGenova, Victoria Toensing, Sidney Powell, and Jenna Ellis, a truly great team, added to our other wonderful lawyers and representatives!”

Meet the legal team
Rudy Giuliani
Rudy Giuliani was put in charge of Trump campaign's post-election legal battles. This was after a series of losses were faced in court. As reported by CNN, in one day – November 13 -- nine cases meant to challenge President-elect Joe Biden's win in key states were denied or dropped. The report says, many of these cases are built upon the idea that absentee voting and alleged ‘voter fraud’, which is not proven and state leaders have said did not happen in 2020.
As per New York Times, the participation of Giuliani, who had held a news conference last weekend in front of a landscaping company in Philadelphia was mocked widely and in which he had claimed widespread fraud, has upset people on the campaign and in the White House.
In October, Giuliani unwittingly was part of Sacha Baron Cohen's mockumentary 'Borat 2' and it did not go well for him. The movie features a sleazy sequence where the former mayor of New York City, got caught in a compromising position with the film's actress. A report by Guardian reveals, "After she removes his microphone, Giuliani, 76, can be seen lying back on the bed, fiddling with his untucked shirt and reaching into his trousers. They are then interrupted by Borat who runs in and says: 'She’s 15. She’s too old for you.’”Giuliani clarified on Twitter, "The Borat video is a complete fabrication. I was tucking in my shirt after taking off the recording equipment. At no time before, during, or after the interview was I ever inappropriate. If Sacha Baron Cohen implies otherwise he is a stone-cold liar."
Trump had previously chosen campaign adviser David Bossie, who is not a lawyer, to lead the campaign's legal efforts. CNN reports that Bossie had tested positive for coronavirus days after being tapped for the role.
Joseph diGenova and Victoria Toensing
The husband-wife duo have been vocal Trump supporters. They are partners in the Washington law firm diGenova and Toensing. In 2018, Toensing and her husband, diGenova, were appointed by Trump to serve on his legal team for the Special Counsel investigation. However, Trump canceled the appointments several days later due to potential conflicts of interest. In a statement, as mentioned in The Washington Post, Jay Sekulow, counsel to Trump had said, “The President is disappointed that conflicts prevent Joe diGenova and Victoria Toensing from joining his Special Counsel legal team. However, those conflicts do not prevent them from assisting the President in other legal matters. The President looks forward to working with them.”
DiGenova is a former US attorney for the District of Columbia. Victoria, with whom he runs a boutique law practice, served in the Reagan Justice Department and has represented a series of high-profile clients in terrorism and national security cases. The couple’s influence in Trump’s world is notable, given their extreme stance toward the Russia probe.
Sidney Powell
Recently, as reported by MEAWW, Sidney Powell, the attorney for Michael Flynn, the retired United States Army lieutenant general who was the 25th National Security Advisor for the first 22 days of Trump's administration said in an interview to Fox News that she has "staggering" statistical evidence and testimony to show how Dominion voting machines altered ballots. This deception stems back to Venezuela, Cuba and China. Then, she said, "I'm going to release the Kraken.”
Jenna Ellis
Trump campaign's senior legal adviser, Jenna Ellis, is no obscure name. Recently, she appeared on HBO's ‘Real Time’ and had argued with host Bill Maher over the election results. Ellis, as quoted by Daily Beast said, “What all Americans should be concerned about is that every legal vote should be counted fairly and accurately.” Then she went on to repeat what Trump has been stating as his main aim -- to ensure that we can have “free and fair elections in this country”. At one point Maher said, “Aren’t you a little bit ashamed of how you’re denigrating the people who work so hard in the most difficult election in memory? They worked so hard to make this come out right.”
What the Internet has to say
After Trump’s legal team announcement tweet, a lot of users weighed in on the post. One said, “Raise your hand if you think that Donald Trump needs to be removed from office immediately.” A supporter said, “Don’t stop fighting until every legal vote is counted & audited. “We have your back”.” Another said, “Also. Why has the all your lawsuits been tossed already? Oh right, because you have zero proof.” One tweeted, “You lost this free and fair election. You’re the one trying to muck it all up.” A user commented, “I expected you to concede defeat and congratulate Biden to receive honor.”
One questioned, "You're trusting rudy giuliani to find election fraud?". Another stated, "The guy who got infiltrated in a Borat stunt is now trusted to overturn a presidential election. Well, you get what you pay for." Another alleged, "What a circus!! Imagine having #RudyGiuliani (total loser) heading a fake “legal effort” to challenge the results of a free and fair election!! But here we are. Trump has to keep the fundraising scam alive for a while longer!!"
