The former mayor of New York City and ex-President Donald Trump's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani became a laughing stock after he was mocked relentlessly on Twitter for referring to the GOP as "the Party of Lincoln, Reagan and Trump."

His comments came in reply to a Twitter user who went by "Catturd." "To be as clear as I can. I’ll never support the Republican Party again. I have ZERO in common with Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, Ben Sasse, Liz Cheney, Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, Mitt Romney, and 90% of the worthless backstabbers. 3rd party for me only. End of story.," the user wrote, to which Giuliani responded, "How about we keep the Party of Lincoln, Reagan and Trump and the traitors leave."

One of the first ones to ridicule him on social media was CNN host Jake Tapper. "Is Giuliani suggesting that Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, Ben Sasse, Liz Cheney, Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, and Mitt Romney are 'traitors'? That seems horribly irresponsible 3 weeks after an insurrection and 5 deaths followed his 'trial by combat' speech," Tapper wrote, reminding Giuliani of the alleged part he played in the January 6 'insurrection' that saw Trump supporters storming the Capitol.

Soon Giuliani's tweet went viral with the terms "Lincoln and Reagan" trending on Twitter. While some mocked the Trump lawyer for calling members of the Republican Party traitor, others condemned Giuliani for uttering the names of Lincoln and Reagan in the same sentence as Trump. "The Republican party of Lincoln and Reagan is no more, 45 Republican Senators including #MoscowMitch think Trump’s 2nd impeachment is unconstitutional. These people are cowards and unworthy of representing American citizens. The GOP is spineless," one of them said.

Another wrote, "Referring to the Republican Party as the party of Lincoln and Reagan is like referring to Bill Cosby as the star of A Piece of the Action and Ghost Dad. Technically true, but is that really what either of them is known for these days?" A third commented, "I am pretty sure both Lincoln and Reagan would have followed John McCain out the door four years ago." One more quipped, "@RudyGiuliani don’t insult Lincoln and Reagan. Never mention trump and other Presidents in the same sentence."

The next remarked, "Lincoln and Reagan are rolling over in their graves." One more said, "Aside from the fact that Lincoln and Reagan and Trump should never be in the same sentence together; it's *really* hard to take Giuliani seriously when he's replying to a CatTurd." A commenter tweeted, "Uttering Lincoln and Reagan in the same sentence with T in any sort of positive comparison is beyond wrong. It's blasphemy."

"Lincoln and Reagan would never have been associated with a Domestic Terrorist Leader like Trump. They would have spit on him. Also... I hope you won that $1 billion dollar Lottery ticket the other day, because Dominion is coming for ya," one more wrote. Another said, "Well if you get rid of all the traitors, it'll just be Lincoln and Reagan sitting by themselves." A person added, "'Don't bring us into your dumpster fire.' - Ghosts of Lincoln and Reagan."
