Looks like Roy Keane's words did come true. Liverpool suffered a massive 7-2 defeat at the Aston Villa on Sunday. It was a day the Reds and Red Devils fans would want to forget. It started with Manchester United handed a 1-6 thrashing by Tottenham Hotspur and then came another upset win for Villa as they took Liverpool to the cleaners. And by the end of the game, Keane who earlier called Liverpool "outstanding, but sloppy at times," trended on social media for his opinion.

In addition to the two cents worth, there were memes, trolls and digs galore as Liverpool faced the full blunt force of disappointed fans. "Sloppy, did I hear that right? I heard someone say Sloppy. Was that u Roy Keane? Haha, how he must be laughing now," read one of the tweets. "Roy Keane saw the signs but nobody listened. Sloppy. #LFC #LIVAVL #Klopp," seconded another fan.

"Remember when Roy Keane said Liverpool have been sloppy this season and Klopp had a go at him and all the Liverpool fans were going wild? Ya, where the f**k are they now," wrote one of the fans.

Some fans missed Roy Keane on TV. "So gutted Roy Keane wasn’t on Sky tonight. Would have blown up about Man U and would have definitely called Klopp out for Liverpool being 'sloppy'," read one fo the comments soon after the Liverpool drubbing.

"Roy Keane warned Liverpool they had a sloppy defence and people had a go and laughed at him.... possibly the most embarrassing result in premier league history? #AstonVillaLiverpool" opined one of the fans.

And some trolling by one of the fans. "On behalf of Roy Keane (and as a Liverpool supporter) can I just say ‘KLOPPY WE WERE SLOPPY!!!’ @LFC #sloppy #liverpool #football #embarrassing #losttheplot."

Keane had voiced his thoughts after Liverpool's 3-1 win over Arsenal last week. The Sky Sports pundit initially praised Liverpool. "It was a good night for Liverpool. There was never really any doubt. I know they had one or two chances in the second half, but Liverpool were by far the better team.

"It was a good night's work for Liverpool, who were by far the better team. There were one or two scares but they deserved the win. They're like a machine and one of the fittest teams around. They like to suffocate teams. It's never easy to score goals but they managed three tonight, four against Leeds. It got a little bit sloppy at the back but its job is done," he added. "Arsenal is always a threat going forward but their issues have always been at the back. The opening goal is soft and would've given Arsenal plenty of encouragement."

Soon after his statement, Liverpool Gaffer, Jurgen Klopp launched an all-out argument defending the Reds, except this defeat, saw Keane's words used in abundance on Twitter. "So Keane was shouted down last week when he suggested Liverpool were sloppy defensively. Klopp even confronted him live on air. Ummm! Penny for Roy Keane’s thoughts. #keane" read a tweet.
