Rosetta Russell: Woman, 80, mauled to death by 3 pitbulls after daughter drops them at her home
TROUP COUNTY, GEORGIA: Yet another dog attack has led to the death of an 80-year-old grandmother in Georgia State, where three pitbulls mauled Rosetta Marian Russell Gesselman. Her daughter had allegedly dropped off her three canines at her mother’s home before going out. Tongia Gesselman, 48, now faces manslaughter charges and is currently jailed by the authorities on a $6,000 bail. The tragic incident took place on October 7, in her Terrace Drive residence in Troup County, Georgia when Tongia’s dogs attacked and ripped apart her mother before Rosetta’s sister was seen screaming from a window for help.
The people who rushed into the desperate calls found the victim to be severely wounded and bleeding all over the floor. Though the ambulance rushed to the spot from the Well Star West Georgia Medical Center, her horrific multiple injuries proved to be too much in the end. As per the police officers from Troup County Marshal’s office, “There were three large dogs spotted running out of a dog flap into the back garden of her home. The dogs in question were reported to have been a female pit bull mix and the other two were a male pit bull and great mastiff mixes.

What was more horrific to know was that the dogs had a history of aggressive behavior and had killed other family pets in the past, and had also bit someone which required a visit to the hospital, but Tongia decided to keep them anyway. She now faces criminal charges for reckless conduct and felony involuntary manslaughter by local prosecutors after Rosetta passed away, reported The Mirror.
As per the latest reports, Tongia has pleaded not guilty and is yet to appoint a lawyer to represent her in court. It has been now claimed that two of the dogs were put down at the scene by the police, while the third dog was euthanized by authorities later. Not long ago, a two-year-old girl, and a five-month-old baby was chewed up by their family dogs near Shelby Forest State Park, north of Memphis.
The mother who jumped in to rescue her kids was also brutally attacked by the canines. The two children were declared dead at the scene, and the mother, Kirstie Bennard, 30, was rushed to the local hospital for treatment in severe condition. It was reported that the attack went on for 10 minutes and there were bite marks all across her body. The investigation is still on to establish what triggered them to show such aggressive behavior, as per the report.
