Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has advocated sending troops to the southern US border instead of Ukraine

MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was not the most convincing candidate at the GOP debate. Viewers who tuned in saw that something was wrong with DeSantis.

The 44-year-old was expected to take center stage at the GOP debate ahead of the 2024 presidential election, but instead, he was replaced by Vivek Ramaswamy, whose brooding naivete became a talking point for many.

DeSantis took a tough stance on US foreign policy, promising to bring troops back from Ukraine and deploy them to the southern border.

But DeSantis was found wanting by some audience members, who saw him as unprepared for the night despite his explosive personality.

The candidates were bombarded with one question after the other with little or no time to react.

DeSantis, who seemed up to the task, was surprised when Fox News anchor Bret Baier approached him with a question.

The Governor of Florida seemed dazed and took a few seconds to respond, even after the audience's applause had faded.

DeSantis kept staring at the camera and then suddenly woke up to realize that it was his chance to speak.

Viewers noticed this moment and rushed to social media to ask, “Is something wrong with DeSantis? #GOPDebate”

This set ablaze a series of comments about the incident with each one of them having their take on DeSantis’ moment of despair.

One user wrote, “Is he on speed?” while a second joked, “It’s like he has an adrenaline rush and a glitch at the same time.”

A third mentioned, “Something is going on,” prompting a reply from another, “Maybe waiting for the voice in his ear to tell him what to say??

A fifth mentioned, “Bro froze” as another said, “Reminds me of a certain guy named Mitch”

Ron DeSantis doesn’t want to send troops to Ukraine

When the topic of American foreign policy was brought up, Ron DeSantis clarified that he had no intentions to “send troops to Ukraine.”

He instead stated that he would send “troops to our Southern border.”

DeSantis said, “When these drug pushers are bringing fentanyl across the border, that's gonna be the last thing they do! We're gonna use force, and we're gonna leave 'em stone-cold dead!”

His hard stand on bringing troops to the South of the United States was received well by many who declared DeSantis as a voice of reason when it came to American foreign policy.
