'Ron DeSantis got a new makeup artist': Internet explodes with jokes over Florida guv's appearance at third GOP debate

Ron DeSantis found himself thrust into an unusual spotlight after delivering several fierce arguments during the GOP debate

MIAMI, FLORIDA: Florida governor Ron DeSantis became the butt of many jokes after the internet noticed that he had gone overboard wearing his make-up during the third Republican primary debate on Wednesday, November 8.

The 45-year-old found himself thrust into an unusual spotlight after delivering several fierce arguments during the GOP debate, which took place at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Miami, Florida.

During the debate, DeSantis launched furious digs at former president Donald Trump and tussled with GOP candidate, Nikki Haley, who accused him of being a “liberal” on the environment for opposing the extraction of fossil fuels off Florida’s coast.

The Governor also claimed about how he helped Americans evacuate from Israel after Hamas’ attack on October 7.

“We had Floridians that were over there after the attack. He [Biden] left them stranded. They couldn't get flights out,” DeSantis gloated. 

“So, I scrambled resources in Florida. I sent planes over to Israel and I brought back over 700 people to safety. There could have been more hostages had we not acted,” DeSantis said.

Internet trolls Ron DeSantis for wearing too much make-up

Nevertheless, it wasn't DeSantis’ compelling talking points or policy proposals that garnered the most social media attention: it was his not-so-minimal makeup.

In September, he was again trolled for sticking his head out to get his make-up done during a brief break at the second GOP debate.

“Ron DeSantis got a new makeup artist. A mortician probably. #RepublicanDebate,” one user said. “How much eye makeup is Ron DeSantis wearing? I think he’s trying to make me fall in love with him,” the second user mocked.

“@RonDeSantis who did your makeup tonight? Between your makeup and the lifts we can’t allow you around our children in Florida,” the third user slammed.

“Is Ron Desantis wearing too much makeup tonight at the debate?” the fourth user asked sarcastically, while the fifth wrote “Why is Ron DeSantis so sweaty? Can we get the makeup team back in with some powder? And his lipstick is all over the place. SMH #GOPDebate”

“Ron DeSantis is creepy as hell. He has layers of makeup, and his voice is weird. His mouth is weird. He seems like he never interacted with humans at all. #GOPDebate,” one more asserted.

Ron DeSantis attacks Donald Trump

At one point, DeSantis used his argument to launch furious digs at Trump, who again skipped the third GOP debate. “He owes it to you to be on this stage and explain why he should get another chance,” he said.

The Governor also suggested Trump had lost a step since winning the White House in 2016, saying he failed to follow through on his “America First” policies.

He took another swipe at the real estate mogul for failing to have Mexico pay for the border wall, telling voters that he could keep that promise.

"I'm even going to build the border wall and have Mexico pay for it like Donald Trump promised," DeSantis said.

“Mexico is not going to fork over money. We're going to impose fees on the remittances that foreign workers send to foreign countries. We'll raise billions of dollars, I'll build a wall,” he continued.
