MIAMI, FLORIDA: Ron DeSantis was mocked by netizens after a clip of the Florida Governor engaging in what can be described as unhygienic behavior before a speech made the rounds on social media on Saturday, October 14.

In the video, the 2024 presidential hopeful appeared visibly stressed as he repeatedly wiped and picked his nose, seemingly trying to remove what appeared to be nasal discharge. The footage quickly went viral and became a hot topic of discussion, as reported OK! Magazine.

Ron DeSantis faces Social media backlash over his bizarre behavior

After the supposed clip of Ron DeSantis touching his face was posted on X (formerly Twitter), netizen didn't mince their words when it came to shunning his behavior.

One individual commented, "I don't recall ever seeing a politician so uncomfortable in his own skin. He must be shedding his skin again for the autumn weather change."

Another stated, "Wow. Glad he's not preparing my dinner," while a user noted, "If I met him and he stuck his hand out, it would be an awkward moment."

"If you mercifully leave the sound off at any appearance and just watch his body movements, it is so disturbing. This guy has real issues from rage/anger to being totally miserable with campaigning," read one comment.

One more expressed, "I feel sad for him because he gets so nervous. He starts scratching his head and rubbing his face. He's not a very good poker player, and a good president has to be a good poker player."

"Sooooo NOT Presidential," stated someone else, as a user exclaimed, "Ron! . . . Ron! . . . A little Hygiene! . . . Ron!"

Ron DeSantis' feud with Donald Trump

Meanwhile, Ron DeSantis has been striving to position himself ahead of Donald Trump in the race for the Republican Primary. Currently, the former POTUS remains the most popular Republican candidate for the 2024 presidential election.

Recently, the Florida Governor criticized Trump for his comments involving Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin "Bibi" Netanyahu, saying, "He attacked Bibi after the country suffered the worst attack it's had in its modern history when they've just created a war government, they're preparing to do a ground invasion in Gaza."

"He hates Netanyahu because of that. That's about him. That's not about the greater good of what Israel's trying to do or American security," alleged DeSantis, as per Newsweek

In contrast, DeSantis has frequently been on the receiving end of criticism from Trump.

During his appearance on Hugh Hewitt's show, the former president discussed what he would say to DeSantis if the 45-year-old governor criticized his response to Covid.

Trump began, "It's so easy to respond," and added, "He said he wouldn't let anybody come in. He shut down his beaches. He shut down the entire state. He tries … he has a selective memory. [Gov.] Henry McMaster didn't shut down South Carolina. [Gov.] Kristi Noem didn't shut down South Dakota."

"He shut down Florida. It was tight as a drum. He had vax lines. He was vaxxing everything. Now he talks about the vaccinations this and that," continued the former POTUS.

Trump went on to declare DeSantis as "not in the category" of governors who did a "good job" handling the coronavirus, drawing attention to Florida's high Covid-19 death toll during the pandemic.

"By the way, just so you know, it sounds very negative, third-most in deaths from COVID? Unfortunately, Florida," claimed the ex-POTUS, adding, Florida was third-worst in deaths … that's horrible, that's a horrible statistic. But that’s a statistic that sort of counts. Ron was the third-worst in terms of actual death from Covid. Ron is No. 3."

Trump also provided insight into his decision not to fire Dr Anthony Fauci during his time in office, a point often highlighted by DeSantis.

He noted, "First of all, you're not allowed. No, no, no, Dr Fauci was there. First of all, he's civil service, and you're not allowed to fire him."

"But forget that because I don't necessarily go by everything…but Dr Fauci would tell me things, and I wouldn't do them in many cases. But also, he wasn't a big player in my administration. Dr Fauci became a big player in the administration of Biden. He's a very big player in Biden's administration," insisted the former president.
