PARIS, FRANCE: Roman Polanski's wife recently posted a photo of her husband with the woman he raped in 1977. At the time, he was 43 and she was just 13. French actress Emmanuelle Seigner released the snapshot on her Instagram on Friday with the caption, "Thank you Samantha." It is believed that this is the first time Polanski, 89, and Samantha Geimer, 60, have interacted since the incident.

Geimer consented to talk with Seigner, Polanski's wife of 34 years, for a Le Point magazine interview, however, it was unclear when the photograph was shot. The interview served as the issue's cover article on April 13. Geimer claimed in the interview that she had long since forgiven the French-polish director, who was shunned when he was accused of drugging and raping her.

Polanski was accused of raping the then13-year-old Geimer in 1977 in Hollywood. He was imprisoned after being charged with rape and fled the country just as the judge was going to reverse his release.

Who took the photo?

Geimer and her husband David encountered Polanski and his wife, Emmanuelle Seigner, in Paris 45 years later. Geimer and Seigner concurred that Polanski was not at fault during their interview for the cover of the French magazine. Geimer has consistently shown her support for Polanski. David took a picture of his wife and Polanski while the Geimers were in Paris. They're all smiling, as per Showbiz411.

What did Geimer say in her interview?

"Let me be very clear: what happened with Polanski was never a big problem for me. I didn’t even know it was illegal, that someone could be arrested for it. I was fine, I’m still fine. The fact that we’ve made this [a big deal] weighs on me terribly. To have to constantly repeat that it wasn’t a big deal, it’s a terrible burden," said Geimer. "The extradition attempt, the fact that Roman was arrested like that, it was so unfair and so in opposition to justice," Geimer also said in the Le Pointe interview.

"Everyone should know by now that Roman has served his sentence. Which was… long, if you want my opinion. From my side, nobody wanted him to go to jail, but he did and it was enough. He paid his debt to society. There, end of story. He did everything that was asked of him until the situation went berserk he had no other choice but to flee. Anyone who thinks that he deserves to be in prison is wrong. It isn’t the case today and it wasn’t the case yesterday."

Geimer has defended Polanski, but the matter is still contentious and has generated a lot of debate over the years. Many people have denounced Polanski's actions, and some think that he ought to be held accountable for what he did. Geimer, on the other hand, thinks that Polanski has already made his peace with the situation and that it is now time to move on.

'Now the case is closed'

Meanwhile, the internet has reacted to the surprising photo, with some commenting that "the case" is closed. "Now "the case" is closed leave Mr. Polanski and Mrs. Geimer alone," said a user. Another user wrote, "Nothing can beat the love of a wife. Fight for the truth, overcome by love, because only he knows. Sometimes this planet gives me hope... 🤍🤍🤍". Another person claimed, "Necessary healing ❤️" A person noted, "What a beautiful symbol! ♥️" "The victim herself has already forgiven him. Nothing more to be said," remarked another user.
