Roger Mudd, the iconic CBS anchor, has passed away at 93 due to kidney failure. In nearly two decades with CBS, he became a household name and a regular stand-in for Walter Cronkite. He also had stints at NBC, PBS and The History Channel. Mudd is best known for his interviews of Edward Kennedy and Robert Kennedy. He also hosted the documentary 'The Selling of the Pentagon', which led to investigations in Congress over the Vietnam war.
Mudd is survived by four children — Daniel, Jonathan, Maria and Mathew — whom he had with his wife EJ Spears. Each of Mudd's children has gone on to distinguish themselves in their chosen career. Daniel as a businessman, Jonathan as a musician and Maria as an author. He also has 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Who are Roger Mudd's children?
Daniel Mudd is the oldest of Mudd's children. Prior to his business career, Daniel served as an Officer in the Marine Corps, decorated for his service in Beirut. He holds a BA degree in American history and an MPA from Harvard University. He went on to work in consulting for World Bank, Xerox and GE Capital among others.
In 1991, he was appointed Vice President for Business Development at GE and served in other senior executive roles at the company till 2000. Daniel joined the Federal National Mortgage Association in 2000 as President and CEO, a post he held till 2008. Daniel is now CEO at Fortress Investment Group in New York City.
Jonathan Mudd is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer. He is known for his pop and rock music, which he produces both solo and with his band The Powers That Be. His first solo album 'Any Good Heaven' was released in 2005, followed by 'Truth Lies' (2010), 'Evidence' (2017), and '(Re)Animate' (2019). He has also toured with Still Surfin, a Beach Boys tribute act. Based out of Washington DC, Mudd has also made North Carolina, Atlanta and San Francisco his home.
Maria Mudd Ruth is an author, known for children and young adults' books. She has published over a dozen books on natural history topics, such as oceans, clouds, butterflies and the Mississipi River. Apart from her writing career, Maria is also an advocate for marbled murrelet conservation, a volunteer pigeon guillemot surveyor and a supporter of Olympia city parks. She resides in Washington with her husband Mike Ruth, a mapmaker.
Not much is known about Mathew Mudd, who lives a much more low-profile life. Interestingly, Roger is related to Samuel Mudd, the doctor who was imprisoned for aiding John Wilkes Booth in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.
