After a decade long hiatus, 'Rocko’s Modern Life' makes its return to our screens on Netflix with 'Static Cling'. While it might sound a little weird for a Nicktoon kid to watch Rocko after so many years, the nostalgic element is just one factor that should make you want to give this new edition a watch. The animations in the movie will make you feel like its right out of the '90s.

Release Date

'Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling' was first scheduled to be released in May 2019 on Nickelodeon. But after it failed to air, Nickelodeon transferred the publishing rights to Netflix, and now the movie is set to release on August 9, 2019, only on Netflix. 

Plot

'Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling' revolves around Rocko and his friends returning to Earth after they were lost in space in 1996 when the show ended. According to the press release, "Rocko has trouble accepting this 21st-Century modern life, while Heffer and Filburt embrace every aspect of new technology, social media and the endless diversity of food trucks. Rocko whole-heartedly believes that his nostalgia for the past can save him from the tortures of the modern world."

Cast

The cast for the movie includes:

Carlos Alazraqui who voices Rocko, Spunky and Leon Chameleon. Tom Kenny who voices Heffer Wolfe, Chuck Chameleon and Really Really Big Man, Mr. Lawrence as Filburt, Maitre D. Charlie Adler as Ed & Bev Bighead, Mr. Dupette, Grandpa Wolfe and Mrs. Fathead. Linda Wallem who voices Crazy Aunt Gretchen and Dr. Hutchison. 
Joe Murray voices  Rachel Bighead (née Ralph), Jill Talley voices Nosey, Steve Little as Cowboy and Cosmo Serguson as Pillow Salesman.

'Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling' is based on a book of the same name by Joe Murray. Murray is an animator, writer, illustrator, producer, director, and voice actor. He is best known for his work in 'Rocko's Modern Life' on Nickelodeon and 'Camp Lazlo' on Cartoon Network. He is now the creator of the PBS Kids animated series 'Let's Go Luna!' He is also the author of the book 'Creating Animated Cartoons with Character'. 

Trailer 

The movie's first trailer premiered during San Diego Comic-Con in 2017. But the recently released trailer starts off by Rocko getting interviewed after he is back from space. He is new to the media and screams that he just wants his show back. The trailer has the '90s look to it ,with the effects just the same. Watching it, you will surely feel like you're watching the OG 'Rocko's Modern Life' and not a special on Netflix.
