CICERO, CHICAGO: A former kindergarten teacher had allegedly molested and sexually abused a five-year-old child under his desk after "giving her a bottle of bubbles to play with".

The teacher, Roberto Aguilar, has been accused of sexually abusing one of his students in the early 2000s at the Woodbine School in Cicero, Chicago. Aguilar is currently awaiting his criminal trial. He would make the child get under his desk while he molested her, the police have revealed.

The victim who is now 20 years old has come forward about the ordeal and shared her story with CBS2 Investigator Dave Savini. The victim who has been identified as Jane Doe 1 shared, "I still have nightmares. He asked me to go under his desk."

"It was a wooden desk. And then he unzipped his pants. It was throughout the whole school year, multiple times. My innocence, my trust," the victim revealed. She also recalled how Aguilar used to cover up all the windows in the classroom and would distract his students with a movie.

Reports reveal how he would lure and entice the victim with a bottle of bubbles to play with, CBS Chicago reported. The victim added that being from a religious family, she grew up feeling ashamed as though she was the one to blame "because you are supposed to be pure and I felt like I wasn’t."

The former kindergarten teacher had resigned from his job in Cicero's District 99 back in 2002. It was in 2004 that the victim was able to tell her parents about the abuse she had endured. Her parents then notified and informed the police as to what had happened only to find that Aguilar had moved away to the Dominican Republic.

The victim shared, "They just kind of put my case in a box and just forgot about it." The school district was not successful in tracing other students from the same class to see whether there were any more victims. Eventually, Aguilar was able to make his way back into the US since his passport was not flagged.

The victim's attorney, Katherine Cardenas, sued the Cicero School District 99 and said they had never checked Aguilar's background. "We truly believe his abuse did not end in the 2001 and 2002 school district calendar year."

There is said to be at least one other victim, named Jane Doe 2. The second victim did not come forward with her ordeal until high school where she wrote an essay describing the abuse that she had faced under Aguilar's desk while in his class.

Jane Doe 2 said, "There was one time I was under the desk. There was one time, where he had me on his lap." She said she never knew about the other victim. After the second victim came forward in 2013 with a very similar abuse story as Jane Doe 1, the police got an arrest warrant.

It has been seven years since Aguilar was arrested and he is still awaiting trial as his victims await justice. Jane Doe 1 now has a daughter of her own who is around the same age as she was when she was abused. She shared, "It’s very scary to think that I have to leave her alone with it. Somebody that I don’t know."
