Robert De Niro 'enraged' that Trump was voted in and accepted by so many, Internet says ‘stick to your acting’

'I’m not like political, but I was so angry and so enraged and confounded that he would actually behave the way he did and that people bought it,' the acting legend said

Robert De Niro has said that it shocked and enraged him that Donald Trump was chosen as the president of the US in 2016 and so many people 'accepted' him.

Speaking on on MSNBC’s ‘The Beat’ on Monday, November 9, the actor also said that he was surprised to see how people were buying all his antics. When Ari Melber asked the actor, “What do we take from all the tough guys you have played and thinking about this is a country that celebrates toughness but sometimes gets carried away with mafia movies.” Niro responded, “Of course I’m an actor. I do the parts. I enjoy them. But I’d like to even think in all of those parts there’s a certain dignity. Somewhere buried in there.

“That I don’t think a person like Trump I know doesn’t have. There’s no center. You have to have a center no matter who you are. It is just it’s like somebody defying gravity. They’ll never do. That’s why we have rules and laws. We have judges. We have structure. If we don’t have that, we have nothing. We have chaos. We have anarchy. We need someone to lead us through in a kind of father figure way or mother figure way. To bring us through and show that they love us, care about us, and want our best. They are looking out for us. It’s the total opposite with someone like him. It confounds me how he ever got to be elected. He did. Crazy things happen. That’s what we need in a leader. In any leader. That’s what we were going to get with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.”

The 77-year-old added: “I’m not like political, but I was so angry and so enraged and confounded that he would actually behave the way he did and that people bought it. I now I see many many many people in the country feel this way. I’m sad about other people who don’t. They have accepted him and would have voted for him and have voted for him. I don’t know why. That’s all that it was from the very beginning. How could this guy behave this way? That’s all.”

People on the internet took note of De Niro’s comments as one said, “Hey @RobertDeNiroUS ,Here the thing,You’re a little too political. Stick to your acting. You’re really good at acting like you’re not a major pedophile. Oh wait who released that information .... THE PEOPLE YOU KEEP VOTING FOR! #stopthehateFORtrump #IStandWithTrump.” Another one wrote, “With all respect to Robert de Niro, how about asking leading academic stars to speak about who in history resembles trump? Why are actors seen as pundits? Because they have popularity and ratings. Sounds like corporatist placating to me.” “The greatest actors once again prove that, while they are great at their trade, they're not society's brightest individuals,” added the third one.

Last month De Niro slammed Trump while promoting his new comedy 'The War With Grandpa'. “You can be in a domestic abusive situation, and now we’re in a national abusive situation with a leader who is daily giving us something new to be concerned about,” the Hollywood veteran said, before adding, “That’s another kind of virus or pandemic that we are having to deal with. ‘I can’t wait, can’t wait, please God, that it goes away so we can get back to normal, get us all back to normal.' Even this virus situation could have been a lot less severe… I get upset even talking about it. This nation has been toyed with, played with, conned to be where we are today. When are people going to wake up and see what the fraud is right in front of our very eyes?”
