'Riverdale' Season 4 Episode 3 preview: The Farm strikes back at Betty while Archie and Ronnie raise money for the community center

The episode will also follow Jug at his new school, however, as the promo warns things 'don't go as planned'.

Senior year has begun for the teens of Riverdale. From fighting off the Gargoyle gang— minions to teens who were  brainwashed into playing the deadly Gryphons & Gargoyles game and were bent on putting Archie (KJ Apa) and Co. out of commission, to bringing down the nefarious cult, otherwise known as The Farm, it has been a rough season for the core four. However, they were able to slow down their fast-paced lives with school starting.

That doesn't mean things are done yet. Jughead (Cole Sprouse) is set to begin a new term at a fancy school called Stonewall Prep. Veronica (Camila Mendes) is hounded by the media for her participation in the trial of her parents, Lili Reinhart's Betty is still hot on the trail of her mom, Alice (Mädchen Amick) who is still stuck with the absconding Farm and finally you have Archie still coping with the death of his father, Fred (late Luke Perry).

Back to school then.  In the previous episode, 'Fast times at Riverdale High', we saw that trouble was still brewing and we get a little more insight about that ominous spring break. There was some old-fashioned football scrimmage, some bit of Mr. and Ms. Popular in school and blossoming romance and friendships. Speaking of 'blossoming', it seems the creators clearly have something seriously dark for Madelaine Petsch's Cheryl Blossom, now that she's dug up her dead brother's body and is actually under the firm faith he's alive. Things aren't looking up for her either as she gets off on the wrong foot with the new  Principal, Mr. Honey.

The upcoming episode, 'Dog Day Afternoon' had its promo and synopsis released by the network and it most definitely kicks things into overdrive. The official synopsis reads: "BETTY AND CHARLES CONFRONT EDGAR EVERNEVER — Things take a dangerous turn when Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Charles (guest star Wyatt Nash) track down Edgar (guest star Chad Michael Murray) and his Farmies."

"Archie (KJ Apa) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) hold a car wash fundraiser at Pop’s to raise money for the community center. Elsewhere, Jughead's (Cole Sprouse) first day at Stonewall Prep doesn't go as planned. Lastly, Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) learns a dark family secret from Nana Rose", it adds.

You can watch the promo here.

Trust things to remain a tad bit normal in this subversive teen drama. It was a matter of time before The Farm exacted its revenge and the promo sees Polly (Tiera Skovbye) confront Betty with a bomb vest strapped on to her, while it seems Archie has some Goonies to take care of. There isn't much to deduce from the latter bit yet. Meanwhile, the El Royale gym that Archie had plans of converting into a community center finally moves forward with the fundraiser storyline coming in. Expect a musical performance to come in at some stage in episode three and hopefully, another Mary Andrews (Molly Ringwald) appearance.

Oh, and Jug, good luck at Stonewall Prep.

'Riverdale' season 4 episode 3 airs Wednesday at 8 pm on The CW.
