'Riverdale' Season 4: Stonewall Prep and Mr. Chipping may have something to do with Jug's mysterious disappearance

What's interesting is that the sleuth, according to the synopsis of the fourth episode, 'Halloween', learns about a series of mysterious disappearances of former students from the school and he probably decides to investigate— a move that doesn't end well.

This article contains spoilers for 'Riverdale' Season 4 Episode 2: 'Fast Times at Riverdale High'

From the three episodes (including the finale of season 3) it has been established that Cole Sprouse's Jughead vanishes at some point during spring break and 'Fast Times at Riverdale High' may have subtly dropped a hint about the reason behind his disappearance. The episode saw him transfer to Stonewall Prep while the rest of his pals continue at Riverdale High. What's interesting is that the sleuth, according to the synopsis of the fourth episode, 'Halloween', learns about a series of mysterious disappearances of former students from the school and he probably decides to investigate— a move that doesn't end well.

Plus, there's something sinister about Mr. Chipping. Why would the man track down Jug's place when his offer was declined in the first place? And even Stonewall is a place where Jug sticks out like a sore thumb. The place gave the impression of "something doesn't feel right" and despite receiving a warm welcome, it looks like Jug will have some curveballs coming his way, and this time, his friends aren't closeby should he need the cavalry to come to his rescue.

Does that mean the students or Mr. Chipping may have something to do with Jug's disappearance? One of the trailers ahead of the new season showed him locked alive in a coffin and that sends an ominous message. Maybe it's the kids, or as far-fetched, as it may seem, is this still The Farm that's managed to somehow extend its ugly influence all the way to Stone Wall and punish him as a way to get to Betty and Alice for giving them away? For now, everything is still up in the air, but what we do know is Betty and Charles will confront The Farm in the next episode, maybe they manage to go one-up in that battle and this is Edgar Evernever's way of getting back at Betty— strike her where it hurts the most.

Again, this is pure speculation. But guess we'll know more about Jug's fate in the days to come.

What are your thoughts on the reasons behind Jug's disappearance?

'Riverdale' season 4 airs Wednesdays at 8 pm on The CW.
