Former Playboy model Rita Ludovisi who was evicted from world's most expensive home is now homeless
ROME, ITALY: Rita Jenrette Boncompagni Ludovisi, a 73-year-old former Playboy model turned Italian princess who got evicted from her $533 million villa, Casino dell’Aurora, in Rome in April 2023, is homeless and penniless. The update comes after a Roman judge ordered in January 2023 that Ludovisi must vacate the villa by April 20, 2023.
According to DailyMail, it all began when Ludovisi was given the rights to the Casino dell' Aurora by her late husband, Prince Nicolo Boncompagni Ludovisi, in his will. They both got married in 2009. Before marrying the Prince, Ludovisi was married to former United States Democratic Representative John Jenrette Jr of South Carolina, whom she married in 1976. However, they parted ways and took divorced in 1981, states another report by DailyMail.

Following the will, her stepsons, Princes Bante, 52, Ignazio, 56, and Francesco, 58, started the inheritance battle as they claimed that they have the rights over the 32,000-square-foot villa and argued that Ludovisi had damaged the world's most expensive property as she tried to restore it, and was charging tours of the estate. Prince Bante earlier said, as per New York Post, “Because she is an American, she cannot do whatever she wants."
'It has been deeply disorienting'
Talking about it, Ludovisi told New York Post from her temporary stay in a villa on the outskirts of Rome which has been provided by another royal, Princess Maria Pia Ruspoli, said, “It has been very Kafkaesque, and deeply disorienting." She further expressed, “Bante has been very aggressive with me for no reason." And added that she was preparing to leave Italy for yet another temporary residence on the outskirts of Paris provided by friends but, “None of it had to happen this way. I’m pretty easy to get along with.”
'It’s been such a brutal ending to a beautiful story'
Ludovisi said, “I lost my home of 20 years, my Ukrainian guests were thrown out on the street with no place to go, my dogs are traumatized, and the custodian [judge] would not let me take my car." Ludovisi's 16-year-old Mercedes was seized and the refugee family from Kyiv, whom Ludovisi had accommodated after the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, had to move into temporary quarters, which is available for another week. Commenting on the situation, Masha Bratashevska, 40, a stylist from Kyiv, said, "All of our acquaintances are trying to help us find something to rent for several months, but to no avail." Her youngest children, Elisabetta, 7, and Vlad, 8, now leaves at 5 am via train to central Rome to reach their old school near the palace. “The children still go to the local school. Stability, at least in some way, is extremely important now," said the mother, who expressed, “Thanks to Rita, this place became a second home for us, where we were able to calm down and restore normal life, especially the children. The news of the eviction was absolutely stunning and shocking for us.” Talking about the children, Ludovisi said, “Every time Vlad sees me he hands me coins. He said he wants to help me. It’s been such a brutal ending to a beautiful story.”
The outlet further mentioned that Bante, who is married to Delphina Lapham — the daughter of journalist Lewis Lapham — is wanted in the US for domestic violence charges. He was charged with domestic assault in Newport, Rhode Island, in 2012 after shoving his wife to the ground during an argument. When he was arrested he allegedly told police it was "none of their business" and they would be arrested in Italy. He, then, fled the US and there is still an open warrant for his arrest. He told New York Post, "I have never, and never will commit a crime. It is known throughout the world that American police are worse than dogs."
