How was Marcy Oglesby caught?
Police came across the remains of the police chief after they questioned Oglesby about the horrible odor that was coming from her storage unit. She initially tried to cover up her crime of hiding a dead body, claiming that it was a dead opossum. Later, DNA samples were taken from Young's decomposing body and were compared to his relatives, WHBF-TV reported.
The decomposing remains were discovered on October 7, 2022, at Roberts Self Storage in Maquon. The Knox County Sheriff's Office said that Young's cause of death is still unknown after a toxicology report, but that "the investigation remains open and active".
What does the toxicology report say?
According to WQAD-TV, the toxicology report did show that Young had a high level of a toxic chemical that is commonly found in eyedrops in his system. Oglesby later admitted to keeping Young’s body in a large box. However, she pleaded not guilty and is being held in custody at the Knox County Jail. “It’s hard to wrap your head around that somebody could be so evil,” Denise Kruzan, Young’s former sister-in-law, told the outlet.
Anyone with any additional information on this case has been directed to contact Knox County Sheriff's Office. The point of contact is Sergeant Detective Brad Davis and his phone number is 309-345-3887.

MEAWW previously reported that a tenant noticed her landlord was missing for a day and reported it to the police. This led to a gruesome discovery as the dismembered body of Frances Walker was found in a freezer. After the Chicago Police Department questioned neighbors, they learned about the suspect, who was also Walker's tenant and whom other tenants were afraid of. Police also found large bags containing blood-soaked rags dumped in a garbage can at Foster Avenue Beach.
Police were able to get to the evidence after the neighbors reported that the suspect had called a tow truck and was seen carrying large bags to it. On questioning the tow truck driver, the police found out the location where the large bags were dumped. After this, the police probed the suspect's residence where they found human remains stored in the freezer. Police secured a search warrant and are carrying forward the investigation.
