Donald Trump does want to run again in 2024, says former intelligence chief; Internet brands him 'delusional'

According to Grenell, the former president told him 'personally, a number of times, he does want to run again'

Former President Trump made his first public comment since leaving the White House and told a Washington Post reporter, "We'll do something, just not yet". And just like that, it looks like he might already be planning an opposition against President Joe Biden. And Richard Grenell promises that he actually does.

According to Grenell, the former president told him "personally, a number of times, he does want to run again." The former acting Director of National Intelligence told Newsmax TV that Trump has plans to run for presidentship again. "We'll see if that holds and how that comes about; I think we've got a long ways to go," Grenell told Saturday's 'The Count'.

"Clearly, Donald Trump is a Republican and should run again as a Republican," he added. The former Acting Director of the United States National Intelligence became the first openly gay DNI and cabinet member in American history. Trump had appointed him as the US Ambassador to Germany and he is also a political advisor and media consultant.

This has caused quite a furor on social media. "@RicGrenell is as delusional as Trump," one tweeted. "Wow if Ric Grenell says it, it must be true," one sarcastically added questioning Ric's authority to predict or claim this in the first place.

While he rejected all talk of Trump forming a rumored Patriot Party, many pointed out that the Republicans might no longer want to be associated with him either. "Ric Grenell has been very disappointing of late. Republican party is not healthy, and couldn't give a flying flip about their constituents or they would have fought for the real winner. And why should Trump run again? He already won bigly, and the party wants to destroy him," one user tweeted.

But for "loyal Americans", this news came as a treat. "I never want him to run again, I JUST WANT HIM BACK AS MY PRESIDENT WHICH HE RIGHTLY DESERVES!" one tweeted. Another tweeted in support of this latest development tagging those who have abandoned Trump since his downfall, namely top Republican in Senate Mitch McConnell and the GOP.

"If you 'IMPEACH' President Trump you will be 'cutting your own throats' & will NEVER regain your power in the Senate again," a user said adding a link to Grenell's prediction as a warning.

The fact of the matter, however, remains otherwise. According to reports, "Trump can seek a non-consecutive term as president in 2024, but if at least 17 Republican senators vote to convict him, he could be banned from holding office again."

Shortly after the Capitol riots of January 6, Grenell was in the news for casting doubt on the election's legitimacy. Grenell, the former ambassador to Germany and acting director of national intelligence, is often deemed as "Donald Trump’s favorite gay man" and appeared on Fox News Channel’s 'Hannity' to say, "Transparency in the election is going to be helpful.”

Grenell said, “If you want the public to understand what’s at stake and whether or not the vote was real, you have to be able to come clean and give us the information."

Former White House adviser Sebastian Gorka noted Democrats were also present with Grenell when he made the above statement. "These are the people who say we are a racist country from the get-go in our gene code," he reportedly said.
