Richard Gere is expecting his first child with his wife, the Spanish publicist Alejandra Silva. The 69-year-old actor is already a father to an 18-year-old son from his previous marriage with Carey Lowell, and the 35-year-old Silva has a five-year-old son, this will be their second child, but the first for them as a couple.

As the Spanish news outlet, ABC reports it is not yet known if the child will be raised in Silva's home in Spain or in America. The couple had made headlines in April when the secretly got married in a private ceremony after dating for almost four years, and a month later they celebrated the nuptials with close friends and family at a wedding party which was held at Gere’s estate in Pound Ridge, New York.

Silva had also converted to Buddhism after she hit it off with the 'Pretty Woman' actor. She had said in 2015, "I was born Catholic but converted to Buddhism two years ago...I think it was already inside of me. I believe in reincarnation so that’s why I think I was Buddhist before realizing it.”

Silva is Gere's third wife after he was married to supermodel Cindy Crawford from 1991 to 1995, and Carey Lowell with whom he split ways in 2013 after being married for almost 11 years. However, their divorce was not finalized until 2016. Gere and Silva met at a luxury Italian hotel during which time Silva was with her former spouse. The couple reportedly had a blessing in the US near Richard's New York home, following their wedding in Spain. Gere had later mentioned that he was the "happiest man in the universe". Silva had told Hola! magazine in 2016, "Richard has been my hero in real life...I was a little lost, without light, and meeting him gave sense to my life.
