What happened on October 15, 2016?

On the night of October 15, 2016, the survivor, who was 18-year-old at the time, visited the pizzeria with her boyfriend and some other boys. They initially had consensual sex in the toilet of the pizzeria. Then her boyfriend told her that the other boys wanted to have sex with her now, to which she replied, "Hell no."

After this, she was given two bongs to smoke which she believed to be containing cannabis. Incidentally, she claims to have smoked cannabis before and it made her feel 'calm', unlike the bongs that day, which made her feel dizzy and fall unconscious at times.

Reportedly, Ricardo Audish sexually assaulted the woman at the back of the restaurant, before letting the other three teenage boys take turns to rape her as well.

Later, when the woman was found by the paramedics, they found her "almost hugging" a pole to hold herself up. Her speech was also slurrying in a way that indicated that she had her "drink or drug spiked", reported SDH.

Who is Ricardo Audish?

Ricardo Audish was a pizza chef working at Lugarno restaurant in Sydney, who was 38-years-old at the time of the assault.

To deny the allegations against him, Audish initially gave three false accounts of the incident in court. Initially, he denied working at the pizzeria during the assault, which was proven false by his co-worker's statement. Then he stated that though he was at work that night, he did not have sex with the woman. This was also proven false by DNA evidence.

Later, he claimed that he had consensual sex with the survivor. Audish said that her boyfriend approached him saying she wanted to have sex with him. He then shared a cigarette with the woman, and asked her why did she want to have sex with him, to which she reportedly responded, "I like you." He added that she took her consent thrice before proceeding to the back, when he started penetrating her by lifting her skirt.

However, this version contradicted the truth since the woman was wearing shorts that night and not skirts. When countered with the truth, Audish said, "I remember she was wearing something tight. No one remembers these things.”

After the verdict, Audish's wife who was present in the courtroom broke down into sobs and hurled abuse at the prosecutor and a female detective. Audish also continued calling the crime a 'bullsh**t case'.
