'RHOP' Season 8: Nneka Ihim snaps at Ashley Darby for badmouthing about newbie to Wendy Osefo

POTOMAC, MARYLAND: Fans of 'The Real Housewives of Potomac' were treated to an early peek at Season 8 Episode 2, which will also marks Nneka Ihim's formal Housewives debut. A sneak peek at the show revealed more about what sparked the altercation between the novice and Dr Wendy Osefo.

Ashley Darby informs Wendy about Nneka bringing up an article in which Wendy was referred to as "Osu", or cursed. She went on to say, "She basically was like, 'Oh, Osu is like terrible."

Retweeting 'RHOP's preview, Nneka took to X to react, "AshleyDarby Really? RHOP #NnekaIhim #TheNewGirl."

Bravo has unveiled the first look at the new season of 'RHOP', which premiered in November. Fans were informed months ago that a new housewife had been brought on board.

Nneka, like Wendy, is of Nigerian origin. While some fans assumed Nneka and Wendy would become friends because of this, the two ladies actually battled during the shooting.

Before the teaser debuted, people couldn't figure out what was wrong with the two Nigerian Americans. The Season 8 teaser may have revealed the cause for their friction.

As it turns out, certain unsavory charges were leveled against Wendy's mother. Wendy and the rest of the gang were made aware of these claims.

Nigerian family curse of 'RHOP'star Wendy Osefo

Wendy said that she and her husband Edward 'Eddie' Osefo were alienated from his family, in an episode in 2020. She disclosed that Eddie's mother did not attend the couple's wedding and is yet to see her grandkids. Wendy's in-law contacted AllAboutTheTea.com, revealing details about the couple's feud with Eddie's divorced parents.

"Wendy’s family is the Western equivalent of the ‘wrong side of the tracks'," a source told AllAboutTheTea.com. "Her family and their ancestors have had bad reputations because of evils stemming from past generations. They are ‘osu,’ essentially cursed."

According to the source, "Osu families are avoided by non-Osu people."

"Traditionally, when a couple decides to get married, both sides must trace back their lineage to ensure that they are from good stock, and not Osu-cursed," according to the family member.

"Proceeding with a marriage despite the discovery of Osu lineage is not merely marrying down, but effectively destroying your family, their reputation, and limiting the social mobility of any future children. The family is forever scandalized," the informant continued.

Wendy said on 'RHOP' that her mother was a Nigerian chieftain, but the source claimed that the woman's tribal position was nothing to brag about.   

"Wendy’s mom is a chieftain, but that doesn’t matter if you’re a chieftain from an outcasted group. Wendy’s caste is an outcasted Nigerian ethnic group — the lowest caste," according to the source.

"People from higher castes are forbidden from marrying or eloping into that caste. Their future children would be shunned."

'The Real Housewives of Potomac' Season 8 airs on Sundays, at 8 pm ET on Bravo.
