'RHONJ' star Jennifer Aydin tests positive for coronavirus, fans wonder how she got access to a test kit
On April 8, 'Real Housewives of New Jersey' star Jennifer Aydin took to her Instagram to announce that she had been tested positive for coronavirus. She posted a small video explaining the symptoms she had, the treatment she is receiving and updated fans about her progress.
In the video, she revealed that she hadn't been keeping well for the last 10 days. She shared that her symptoms started showing last Monday (March 30) when she felt extreme fatigue but didn't have any fever.
She added that she asked her husband, Dr Bill Aydin, to bring home a test kit, but he refused because she wasn't showing common symptoms like fever or cough. A day or two later, she insisted he bring home the test and he reportedly brought home the test and took her nose swab and sent it to the lab for testing.
As the reality star expected, the results came in positive for coronavirus. Jennifer then explained that she is doing a lot better now and is taking rest, having plenty of fluids and her vitamins.
She wrote, "Why I've been MIA I've been sick for the past 10 days and Monday is when my test came back positive. But today is the first day that I'm finally starting to feel better. Keeping my kids away has been the hardest and I’m grateful that I have no breathing issues."
She added, "My days haven't been so bad, aside from a lot of fatigue and sleeping. At night is when it's the worst for me because of the mix of sweating and chills. I'm taking my vitamins and drinking hot liquids. We'll all get through this. #staypositive #stayinside #covid19."
While her fans were happy that their favorite housewife was recovering well, they couldn't help but wonder how she got access to a test kit so easily.
Though she explained in her video that her husband got the test kit for her, fans were taken aback that her husband Aydin, who happens to be plastic surgeon, had access to the test kits while several primary care physicians and clinical catering for low-income households had no access to the testing kits.
A fan tweeted, "How does a plastic surgeon from New Jersey have access to tests but our front line workers don't?!?!?!?"
Another fan expressed, "I’m really sorry that she is sick, but I am surprised than a plastic surgeon's office has access to the test. Most family/primary care physicians don’t have access to these tests. Almost all are either at hospitals, testing facilities or nursing homes."
"What's wrong @JenniferAydin, can't answer the REAL questions, like WHY Dr. PLASTIC SURGEON has all these tests, but the clinics for low-income families, or even clinics for average income families with insurance, have NO tests? Do ONLY RICH PEOPLE deserve proper healthcare?" pointed out another fan.
