Daniel is the VP of the company. According to an article in D Magazine, Daniel has played a key role in growing the family business. According to the outlet, the company has expanded beyond wholesale retail to luxury hotels. A ground lease lawsuit against his father inspired Daniel to attend law school before entering the family business. “My dad lost everything because of that lawsuit,” he said in the magazine interview. Why was Daniel Moon named in the sexual assault lawsuit?

An unnamed woman who goes by the pseudonym of Jane Doe 3, filed a lawsuit against David Moon and his son Sam Moon, and their family business Sam Moon Group. Doe accused David of sexually assaulting her while she was working as a cart girl at Coyote Ridge Golf Club, a golf course owned by the Moons. In February, she filed for a request to depose Daniel to answer questions under oath about the allegations against his father.

Radar Online reported that Daniel agreed to sit for the deposition and answer the questions.  The victim's lawyer wrote in court documents, "David Moon and his sons, Daniel Moon and Sam Moon, have treated women as objects of their sexual urges instead of as the women—daughters, sisters, wives, and mothers—they are. They used Coyote Ridge Golf Club as their sexual playground.” In the lawsuit, Doe revealed that the accused would often 'rub and grab her butt'. She also claimed that David forcibly grabbed her breasts multiple times.

Doe shared, "The Defendants would also verbally abuse the Plaintiff and call her several derogatory names, including but not limited to, the following words and/or phrases: “stupid,” “ignorant,” “dumb,” “stupid white girl,” “arrogant white girl,” “uneducated,” “you look awful,” “you look sick,” “you don’t know anything.” The alleged assaults went down every month from April 2016 until April 2017.

The former employee also accused David of hiring 'pretty, young female employees' at the golf course, and ordering them to wear 'skimpy outfits and serve at his beck and call'. The women were allegedly expected to "allow pats, grabs, rubs, gropes, prods, and fingers jammed in unwelcome places by David Moon because David Moon was the owner, and they were expected to make the owner happy.”

David and Sam denied all the allegations against them. The case will be going to trial in June.
