'Real Housewives of Dallas': Fans find it hard to empathize with D'Andra complaining about Mamma Dee messing up her business

The premiere episode of season 4 'Real Housewives of Dallas' brought a fresh dose of drama between Mamma Dee and D'Andra Simmons. Read on to know more
UPDATED SEP 5, 2019

The much-awaited reality show ‘Real Housewives of Dallas’ season 4 finally hit our television screens on September 4. It appears like the wait was worth it, as the premiere episode had enough drama to keep us hooked. Housewife D’Andra Simmons and her mother who is fondly known as Mamma Dee have always been at the center of drama with their cold and twisted relationship. For years D’Andra fought with her mother for ownership of their cosmetic company. Mamma Dee put in a tough fight and refused to let go off her business empire which she built from scratch with her husband (D’Andra’s stepfather). After a lot of bickering, negotiating and requesting, Mamma Dee finally handed over the reins of her precious business to her daughter. She, in fact, gave D’Andra complete control of the businesses and stepped away from it all. Her only condition was that she get an annual allowance from the company to support her lifestyle, which D’Andra happily agreed to.

Poor D’Andra claims that she had no idea that the company was running in loss when she took over the business and believes that her sly mother set up D’Andra for failure. In case you’re wondering why Mamma Dee would do that, then D’Andra has attributed that to her mother’s need to always be right so that she can gloat over D’Andra’s general inability to get anything right. D’Andra is always walking on eggshells around her mother, as she controls the trust-fund. The housewife’s biggest fear is being cut off or losing access to her trust fund, so she is in a manner of speaking her mother’s puppet. She bravely decided to reach out to her mother and requested her if she would be willing to forego her annual allowance for a little while until the company’s financials get better. Surprisingly, Mamma Dee agrees to it without batting an eyelash. Instead of being grateful, D’Andra starts blaming her mother for the company’s poor state.

It is true that in the past Mamma Dee was not the nicest person to D’Andra, but no one can deny that she was a savvy businesswoman. So fans find it hard to empathize with D’Andra’s self-pity party about her mother ruining the company and leaving behind a mess for her clean up. A fan wrote, “Why does D’Andra think her mom set her up for failure if she’s the one who stopped the advertising on the Christian television stations and she admitted that’s when the money stopped coming in???? Sounds like she knows what she needs to do... #RHOD”. In one of the confessional shots, D’Andra reveals that their sales fell to an all-time low after they stopped advertising their products on Christian television stations, a move which D’Andra made. So she accidentally revealed the reasons for her company’s failing without realizing it. This puts Mamma Dee in the clear.

Another fan tweeted, “Lmao D’Andra and the company failing. Oooooooh geez who saw this coming?!??!!! Trying to spin it like her mom gave it to her like that. Sure girl...we’ll go with that. #RHOD”. Fans are unable to take D’Andra’s side on this but feel that she and her mother need to seek help to mend their twisted relationship. A fan wrote, “I’m going to say this delicately, but D’Andra and her mom need to go to therapy together. #RHOD”.
