'Real Housewives of Dallas': Fans appalled as LeeAnne uses her childhood trauma and suicide attempts as an excuse for her bad behavior

RHOD fans are unhappy with LeeAnne's casual attitude towards suicide and using her childhood abuse as an excuse for her bad behavior.

Trigger Warning: This story contains themes of child abuse and suicide.

‘RHOD’ star LeeAnne Locken has always been very vocal about her painful past, and its effects on her day-to-day life. In several episodes of the earlier seasons, she has spoken about the abuse she experienced as a child and her battle with mental health issues following three suicide attempts. The other housewives on RHOD apart from Kameron, however, feel that LeeAnne uses her painful past and childhood trauma as an excuse for her bad behavior.

Like in the previous episode, when she was being very hostile to new housewife Kary Brittingham. Kary felt that the 52-year-old housewife was being very negative and hostile towards her. When Kary expressed her feelings to LeeAnne, she immediately flipped the tables, and instead of apologizing, she begins blaming her painful past for her behavior. All the remaining housewives at the table reveal in their green-room interviews that LeeAnne uses her victim card to skip taking accountability for her actions. LeeAnne just made it worse with her casual attitude towards suicide. She proudly said that any person who had similar life experiences as her, would have committed suicide by the age of 30, but she tried it only thrice. Then she joked about how she might try it again that night. This left everybody at the dinner table very uncomfortable and awkward.

Fans too are disappointed with LeeAnne’s casual attitude towards suicide and her usage of her abuse as an excuse for her poor behavior towards others. A fan tweeted, “I feel like Leanne throws that childhood/suicide shit up a bit TO MUCH! I had a shit childhood with a lot of bullshit but I don’t throw it around everytime im in the hot seat for somethin  I’m sympathetic but don’t use the past as your crutch and excuse to be an ass! #RHOD”. Another fan wrote, “#RHOD I have been watchin the RHOD from the beginning, and Leanne has been psycho from the start. So I was not surprised about her suicide rant at that table last week.  I must say she is at the height of insane. However, continuing to abuse the word suicide is appalling.”

LeeAnne’s casual attitude towards suicide has triggered her fellow housewife Stephanie Hollman, who is battling her own mental health issues and has revealed in the previous season that she too attempted suicide. In the recent episode which aired on September 25, Stephanie talks about how LeeAnne’s words have affected her deeply. Fans are concerned that LeeAnne’s poor attitude might give the wrong impression to her young viewers. A fan expressed her concerns with, “Look... @LeeAnneLocken... I love you. But ya gatta stop with the suicide talk... I know you’re trying to be real...but it’s alarming & sends the wrong message to young viewers who are struggling. Remember, LeeAnne: #YouMatter #RHOD @Andy #WWHL @BravoTV”. Most fans felt that it was high time the housewife stop using her abuse as an excuse for everything. “It is sad what LeeAnne went through as a child, but she should STOP using that as an excuse for EVERYTHING!! #RHOD”. wrote an annoyed fan.
