‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’: Fans in awe of Kandi’s 16-year-old daughter’s extravagant lifestyle, but feel sorry for her stepdaughter
We bet your life isn’t as glamorous as ‘RHOA’ housewife Kandi Burruss’s 16-year-old daughter Riley's is. She may just be sixteen, but is already driving a Porsche, has a beautiful apartment in New York, and is interning with an entertainment attorney over the summer. On the latest episode of ‘RHOA’ we saw Kandi and her family make way to New York to help Riley settle in.
We have to admit we were awestruck by how elegant and beautiful the apartment in which Riley would be staying looked. Kandi will be shelling out a grand total of $5400 per month on rent. While Riley took in her new pad, she was left appalled when she learned that her refrigerator didn’t come with an ice-maker, and she would have to make her own ice. Later she got another shock when she learned she would have to clean out her own shower every day.
Several fans took to their social media to discuss the extravagant lifestyle this sixteen-year-old had. A fan tweeted, “Kandi got her 16-year-old daughter an apartment in New York??? In the words of her mama, Riley is definitely a #privilegedblackkid. Everybody ain’t able. #RHOA”. Another fan commented, “Mannnnn....Riley driving a Porsche and livin on the upper east up in da sky $5500 #RHOA”. “Riley living her best life having her own luxe apartment at 16....... fam I’m 29 and still living with my parents #RHOA”, compared a fan. “Riley is living in LUXURY, do you hear me? #RHOA”, expressed a fan.
While there was a tinge of envy amongst the fans about Riley’s plush lifestyle, they couldn’t help but feel sorry for her stepsister- Kaela. Kaela, who is Kandi’s husband Todd’s daughter from a previous relationship, also accompanied the family to New York. Kaela didn’t look very pleased with how entitled and privileged her sister Riley was. In her green room interview Kandi spoke about how Todd’s and her parenting styles were different- while she believed in pampering her child, Todd felt that they should earn it.
A fan tweeted, “Riley is getting internships with attorneys before she's even in law school meanwhile Kaela is being told she can't have a room in not one of Kandi's houses. #RHOA”. Another fan wrote, “So Kaela gotta earn it while Riley out here driving a Porsche and asking about ice trays #RHOA”.
Many fans felt that it was unfair on Todd’s part to be so strict towards Kaela while Riley was being spoilt to no end. A fan shared, “Todd doesn’t have to spoil kaela BUT she also shouldn’t have to witness Riley be spoiled! That whole apartment scene felt like they were rubbing her nose in Riley’s privilege. #rhoa”. Another fan pointed, “I feel for Kaela. Not much worse than being young & independent, yet seein an entitled kid given everything & more that you’ve worked for. let alone your stepsister who lives in the same damn house as you! I’m sorry but, Riley needs to be livin a lil less glamorous at 16 #RHOA”.
