How did Ryan 'Rhino' Fleming die? Jason Aldean mourns pal who saved his life
Country music star Jason Aldean took to Instagram to mourn the tragic loss of his longtime friend Ryan 'Rhino' Fleming, who worked as his security guard on tours for many years. In a heartbreaking post on his Instagram, Aldean recounted how Fleming was the one to save his life during the Las Vegas mass shooting of 2017, which left over 60 people dead and nearly 900 wounded. "He was the person who pulled me offstage during the Route 91 shooting and put his life in danger to take care of me and my crew," Aldean wrote.
The 'Big Green Tractor' singer posted a series of photos of himself with Fleming over the years. "He was a good man and an even better friend. We will all miss you brother and thank you for having my back all these years. We love ya Rhino!" he mentioned. In another tribute, Aldean shared a photo of Fleming watching him perform from the side stage. "Thank you Rhino! See ya down the road one day bro. RIP," he captioned the photo.
Who was Ryan 'Rhino' Fleming?
Jason Aldean and Ryan Fleming go way back, even before their professional association. The pair grew up together in Georgia. Fleming is believed to be a childhood friend of Aldean who used to work as a bouncer prior to joining Fleming on tours. He was also a member of the local sheriff's department.
Aldean happened to be the first one to announce the news of Fleming's death to the world. But did not reveal the cause of death. In his Instagram post, he wrote, "Man this is a hard post to write. We lost one of our boys today. Ryan Fleming aka @rhinolin3 was a friend I grew up with in Georgia. He was a bouncer at our favorite bar in Macon when he was 18, then went to work for the Sheriffs dept as he got older. When it came time for me to hire a security guy that I knew would always look out for me and my family, There was no question for me that person was Rhino. He came out and traveled the world with us and for years if u saw me, Rhino wasn’t too far away. He was the person who pulled me offstage during the Route 91 shooting and put his life in danger to take care of me and my crew. He was a good man and an even better friend. We will all miss you brother and thank you for having my back all these years. We love ya Rhino! RIP."
During the Las Vegas mass shooting on October 1, 2017, Jason Aldean was performing on stage at the Route 91 Harvest Country Music Festival. When the shooter, who was later found to be a 64-year-old man from Mesquite, Nevada, opened fire on the crowd, Fleming was watching Rhino perform from the side of the stage. He immediately jumped in and pulled Aldean offstage, and managed to save his crew as well.
