RFK Jr's actress wife Cheryl Hines blasts Biden for lack of Secret Service protection after home invasion
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Robert F Kennedy Jr's wife, Cheryl Hines, expressed her dismay at President Joe Biden's refusal to provide Secret Service protection after an intruder twice breached their Los Angeles home, as per Daily Mail.
Hines has a 19-year-old daughter named Catherine Rose Young, whom she had with her former husband, Paul Young.
Chery Hines calls the lack of secret service for RFK Jr a 'political strategy'
Hines, a well-known actress and comedian at 58, did not mince her words when she spoke out on TMZ Live.
She characterized the absence of Secret Service protection for her husband as a potential "political strategy," insinuating that the administration deliberately overlooked Kennedy's candidacy.
Although she held President Biden and his administration in high regard, she conveyed her frustration regarding the decision.
Kennedy himself concurs with his wife's evaluation. The intruder, identified as Jonathan Macht, had bombarded Kennedy with 435 threatening emails in just a three-month span, including one that ominously mentioned a bullet aimed at his head.
According to Fox News Digital, Macht had been included in a Secret Service risk assessment in June, at Kennedy's request for protection. This assessment had already categorized Kennedy as "at an elevated risk."
Homeland Security denies RFK Jr's requests for Secret Service protection
Despite the apparent risk and consistent threats, President Biden's Homeland Security repeatedly denied Kennedy's requests for Secret Service protection.
This has left the Kennedy family in a state of unease as they have faced death threats and intrusions into their home over the past few months.
In accordance with Title 18 USC 3056(a)(7), candidates from major parties polling above 15 percent and independent candidates polling above 20 percent are eligible for Secret Service protection.
It's worth noting that the late Senator Ted Kennedy, who was Robert's uncle, received Secret Service protection 441 days before the 1980 presidential election when he challenged the incumbent Democratic President, Jimmy Carter.
Cheryl Hines spotted intruder while on Instagram Live
Hines had her own frightening encounter with the intruder, which heightened the urgency of her request for Secret Service protection.
While she was on Instagram Live at the family's Brentwood estate at approximately 9:30 am, she noticed an unfamiliar man in their yard being apprehended by security.
She underscored the importance of her husband's protection, a request that President Biden's Homeland Security has turned down twice.
Hines believes that granting Bobby (as Kennedy is commonly known) Secret Service protection would signify a recognition of his political candidacy.
Macht, the intruder, had been arrested after scaling a fence to access the Brentwood property and even managed to reach the second floor of their home before Kennedy's private security intervened.
Even after being released from police custody, Macht returned to Kennedy's property in a further attempt to meet the candidate, leading to his second arrest for violating a court order and trespassing.
