Prince Philip looks strikingly like Harry in vintage pic, Internet says it 'explains Queen’s fondness of him'
Prince Harry and his grandfather, the late Prince Philip, share a striking amount of resemblance in an old photo of the Duke of Edinburgh that resurfaced recently. Harry has returned to the UK for the first time in over a year to attend the funeral of his grandfather, tributes for whom have been pouring from across the world.
Reportedly staying at his Frogmore Cottage home in Windsor, the house where he, wife Meghan Markle, and son Archie lived before they left the UK, Harry will have to quarantine before attending the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral on April 17. Philip died last week at the age of 99.

The photo of the Duke of Edinburgh, which appeared on the cover of the Paris Match magazine in February 1957, shows him in the Tropical Dress of the Blues and Royals. The snap was shared by royal photographer Chris Jackson, who paid tribute to the late Duke of Edinburgh with that vintage photo.
The resemblance between the two dukes is startling. In 1957, Philip was 36, just like Harry, who turned 36 last September. The two look decidedly similar in the photo. From his sharp features to his reddish beard, one can easily say they are closely related, which they are.
“I was reminded today of this incredible vintage @parismatch_magazine from 1957 I acquired a few years ago. I was blown away the minute I spotted it. It always reminds me of the unique, historic reference points that Royal photography provides. The front cover features a fantastically suave Prince Philip on tour with The Queen, check out my stories to see inside,” Jackson wrote on Instagram.
“I’ve seen lots of pictures that show he’s the image of Prince Phillip. Could explain the Queen’s fondness of him,” said a Twitter user. On Instagram as well, many commented similarly. “This is the first time I saw that Prince Harry looks exactly like his grandfather,” wrote one user. “You can see the resemblance Harry has to PP here. I think this is what Harry will look like when he's 50,” said another Instagram user. One Instagram user wrote, “The Queen has a great eye! Not only handsome but loyal, hardworking, a family man. He more than earned his place in history. God bless the Queen; cannot imagine…”

After Philip’s death, a source close to the Duke of Sussex said that "Harry feels guilty for not being there to say goodbye to Prince Philip in person. The Queen wants Harry to be there. Harry is hopeful that he’ll be able to return home to honor his grandfather, who he had a close bond with."
In a statement issued to the press, the Duke of Sussex said his grandfather was a "man of service, honor, and great humor." He said in the statement, "He will be remembered as the longest-reigning consort to the Monarch, a decorated serviceman, a Prince, and a Duke. But to me, like many of you who have lost a loved one or grandparent over the pain of this past year, he was my grandpa: master of the barbecue, legend of banter, and cheeky right 'til the end."
