With November fast approaching every statement and promise from both presidential candidates, Joe Biden and President Donald Trump, are being scrutinized quite closely by the media, political experts and the public. How both their policies differ regarding important matters of the country, is something the public often debates about. However, a recent report in The Atlantic seems to have spelled trouble for the Trump administration.

The report alleges that the POTUS was disrespectful towards war heroes. The report stated that after speaking to four sources, they learned that allegedly Trump felt he did not need to honor the American war dead and on the same trip, he allegedly called more than 1,800 marines who lost their lives at Belleau Wood as “suckers” for getting killed. There was also the issue of his disdain for the late Senator John McCain, who spent more than five years as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam. The report cites a 2015 quote where Trump allegedly said: “He’s not a war hero,” adding, “I like people who weren’t captured.” There was allegedly more of that vitriol when McCain died and the report states that Trump allegedly said in August 2018, “We’re not going to support that loser’s funeral.” Moreover, he also said, “What the f**k are we doing that for? Guy was a f**king loser.”

This report has made social media livid and they lost no time in chiding the president for his past remarks, however, Trump stated that he never called John a “loser” and it is just fake news that is doing rounds. "Also, I never called, John a loser and swear on whatever, or whoever, I was asked to swear on, that I never called our great fallen soldiers anything other than HEROES. This is more made up Fake News given by disgusting & jealous failures in a disgraceful attempt to influence the 2020 Election!"

Now a video of Biden paying homage to fallen military heroes in 2012 has surfaced online amid the barrage of hate being directed at Trump. Social media is comparing the two candidates and their take on the military. A user sharing the Biden video praised the former US vice president and how the video was emotionally empowering. “I first watched this abt 5 years ago. I’ve watched it 5-6 times since. I’ve never seen a politician give a more emotionally raw public speech. it shows he is a virtuous & good man. And he’ll be the Commander in Chief we all—especially the military—deserve.”

The video shows Biden talking with the surviving families of fallen military heroes at the opening session of the 18th Annual TAPS National Military Survivor Seminar, held over Memorial Day Weekend in 2012. In the video, Biden discussed the death of his wife and young daughter in a car accident and how he dealt with grief. He also talked about his two sons, Beau and Hunt, who escaped the accident closely and mentioned how the tragedy brought him further close to his family.

He said, “But the call said my wife was dead, my daughter was dead and I wasn't sure how my sons were going to make it. They were Christmas shopping and a tractor-trailer broadsided them in one instant -- killed two of them and, well -- I have to tell you, I used to resent -- I knew people meant well. They'd come up to me saying, Joe, I know how you feel.” He is heard explaining his state of mind, “For the first time in my life, I understood how someone could consciously decide to commit suicide -- not because they were deranged, not because they were nuts, because they'd been to the top of the mountain and they just knew in their heart they'd never get there again, that it was never going to get -- never going to be that way ever again. That's how an awful lot of you feel.”

He said in the heartfelt address, “You know what you’re going to find out? Your relationship with your son and daughter, which was already close, is going to be like a bond of steel that runs through your chest and theirs and wraps you together.”

On the sacrifices made by the fallen soldiers, he said, “So hang on to each other. Hang on to each other. And I can't tell -- I can't tell you how deeply the five of us on this stage feel about the sacrifices you've made for this country. That doesn't -- that doesn't fill the black hole. But you should know only 1 percent of you have fought these wars and much less, thank God, than 1 percent of those who fought the wars are going through what you're going through. We owe you more than we can ever, ever, ever repay you.” He ended the speech praying that a “smile” will come sooner than later for the families of soldiers who are grieving their loss. “But I promise you it will come. God bless you all and may God protect our troops.”

A user got emotional after watching the video. "Thank you so much for sharing this. I am crying in appreciation for the greatness of Joe Biden and for what we have been sorely missing."

Another wrote how this short clip of Biden’s 2012 address is pivotal in the present context. “This short clip of a speech Biden gave on dead and wounded soldiers is the perfect thing to watch after reading the Atlantic article.”

Another reasoned, “Whenever I give into my cynical leftist grumbling about Biden (some of which is valid!), I try to remember this speech. The guy is able to express sincere emotional vulnerability in a way not many folks in his position have been before. We need that in a president right now.”

Another concurred, “Thank you for sharing. Powerful, heartfelt, what a leader!”

The comparisons between Trump and Biden were inevitable. “Moreover, while Biden was trying to find a solution for our nation’s cancers, Trump was busting himself by insulting fallen soldiers and veterans, who he claims to support. What kind of support is that?”
