Humans have held cats in high regard for many thousands of years. In ancient Egypt, felines were regarded and some were even worshipped as goddesses. King Richard II issued an order prohibiting people from eating cats in England toward the end of the Middle Ages. In fact, according to some historians, the edict forbidding the consumption of cats took place on March 28, 1384, which may be why this day is designated Respect Your Cat Day.

How to celebrate Respect Your cat day?

Here are 3 ways that will help to improve your relationship with your cat so they’ll truly know you love them on Respect Your Cat Day.

Spend quality time with your cat

Make time to spend with your cat. Put it in your calendar, of course. Despite the fact that our lives become so hectic, it is well worth your time to show your cat some love. Show the cat how much you value its distinctive personality traits, delicate sensibilities, and strong opinions.

Gift your cat new toys

Sometimes, all you have to do is to show your love to your cat. Gift a scratching post. To respect your cat's needs, invest in a good cat scratch post or mat. Your cat may enjoy scratching different textures and shapes depending on his mood, so having more than one option available to him is a good idea.

Keep your cat's snooze time in mind

50 percent of cats sleep between 12 and 18 hours per day, while only 40 percent get more than 18 hours. Cats are also crepuscular animals, that is they are active primarily during the twilight period. Thus, regard your dozing feline and his regular propensities.
