Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene's wildest moments on Capitol Hill
Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene's wildest moments on Capitol Hill
Marjorie Taylor Greene is a never-ending source of delight for those who appreciate outlandish right-wing political hyperbole. The 49-year-old Georgia Republican has emerged as one of the most outspoken and controversial members of Congress since her election in November 2020. Over the year, she has advanced claims about voter fraud during the 2020 election, expressed her racist, antisemitic, and Islamophobic opinions online, and has even shown support for executing prominent Democratic politicians. In addition, she has a history of using malapropisms like "gazpacho police." Here we bring you a look at Marjorie Taylor Greene's wildest moments on Capitol Hill.
Marjorie Taylor Greene shares Hunter Biden nudes
In July 2023, Greene stirred a controversy when she displayed explicit photos of Hunter Biden during a House Oversight Committee hearing, claiming the images showed him having sex with sex workers. President Joe Biden's son can be seen having intercourse in the photos, but black boxes are used to hide his genitalia and the faces of other individuals. “I would like to let the committee and everyone watching at home know that parental discretion is advised,” Greene said before releasing the compromising photos of Hunter. She even accused him of "making pornography." Democrats have criticized the photographs, calling them "pornographic" and "irrelevant," but Greene said that "the American people deserve to see" them.
Marjorie Taylor Greene calls Lauren Boebert a 'little b***h'
In June, simmering animosity between Greene and fellow Republican Representative Lauren Boebert reached a boiling point when Greene called Boebert a "little b***h" on the House floor. The heated discussion occurred during the two members' ongoing back-and-forth over their opposing impeachment motions for President Joe Biden. “I’ve donated to you, I’ve defended you. But you’ve been nothing but a little b***h to me,” Greene told Boebert, adding “And you copied my articles of impeachment after I asked you to cosponsor them.” “OK, Marjorie, we’re through,” Boebert then stated to which Greene replied, “We were never together.”
Marjorie Taylor Greene calls Joe Biden a 'liar'
In February, Greene screamed "liar" at President Joe Biden when he said during his State of the Union address that certain Republicans wanted to cut Medicare and Social Security benefits. "Instead of making the wealthy pay their fair share, some Republicans — some Republicans want Medicare and Social Security to sunset. I am not saying it’s a majority," Biden said. In response, Greene and other Republicans erupted in protest, with Greene calling him a "liar." Additionally, she and Boebert—with whom she was still friendly—interrupted his 2022 speech, with the two of them at one point screaming the Trump catchphrase, "Build the wall."
Marjorie Taylor Greene chases AOC down a hallway
Greene's mischievous behavior on Capitol Hill has extended beyond the House chamber. In 2021, she once followed Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez down a congressional hallway, accusing her of being a supporter of "radical socialism" and "terrorists and antifa." Ocasio-Cortez ignored her, and Greene called her a "chicken" while reporters were present.
Marjorie Taylor Greene and Jamaal Bowman shouting match
Greene and Rep Jamaal Bowman's feud escalated in May 2023 when they engaged in a shouting match outside the Capitol. The dispute between Greene, a far-right Republican, and Bowman, a Democratic member of the left-wing organization The Squad, started soon after House Republicans agreed to postpone efforts to remove Rep George Santos from Congress. The dispute between the two Congressmen seems to have begun with disagreements on whether Santos should be expelled, but it quickly turned into them yelling at one another over entirely irrelevant subjects. "Expel him, save the party, the party is hanging by a thread," Bowman said to which Greene replied that Biden should be the one to leave office. The situation was eventually defused after Ocasio-Cortez intervened, telling Bowman, "She ain't worth it, bro."
Marjorie Taylor Greene confronts a Parkland shooting survivor
Before being elected, Greene once waited outside the Capitol to confront and harass Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg shortly after the 2018 attack. In a video, Greene was seen following Hogg as he walked toward the US Capitol. She can be heard questioning him about gun rights and how he was able to meet with senators, among other things while making unfounded and fraudulent assertions. At the end of the video, Greene calls Hogg a coward and claims that liberals and billionaire philanthropist George Soros, who is frequently the focus of far-right conspiracy theories, supported Hogg's activism.
Marjorie Taylor Greene hangs anti-trans sign outside her office
In February 2021, Greene placed a sign outside her office Wednesday mocking Democratic Rep Marie Newman, whose office sits across the hall, after Newman hung a transgender pride flag next to her door in protest over Greene's opposition to an LGBTQ rights bill. "There are TWO genders: Male & Female. Trust The Science!" the sign read.
