Ron DeSantis recieved the internet's support after his brutal dig at Gavin Newsom during Fox News debate

ALPHARETTA, GEORGIA: California Governor Gavin Newsom and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis have participated in a Fox News debate, dubbed 'The Great Red vs Blue State Debate,' hosted by Sean Hannity, and DeSantis has accused Newsom, claiming the latter “messed up” the state of California.

DeSantis briefly talked about time he spent in Southern California when he was in the Navy and how he thought it was one of the “most beautiful” places on Earth. He also added that California as a state has the most “natural advantages” before his brutal dig at his opponent, Newsom, who simply stood there and smiled.

Ron DeSantis recalls time spent in California

Ron DeSantis began his statement by mentioning the time he was in the Navy, “When I was in the Navy, I got orders to go to Naval Amphibious Base in Coronado, Southern California, and I was a Floridian but I went there and I was like ‘Man, this is one of the most beautiful places on Earth.”

He continued, “I think California has many natural advantages than any state in the country and you almost have to try to mess California up…and yet that’s what Gavin Newsom has done since he’s been governor.”

“He’s the first governor to ever lose population. They actually at one point ran out of U-Hauls in the state of California because so many people were leaving,” said DeSantis, while Gavin Newsom, simply smiled at the GOP candidate’s statements against him.

DeSantis continued, “Of course, he’s imposed restrictions on his own people, while exempting himself from those restrictions, and going to the French Laundry, while his people were suffering. He led the country in school closures, locking kids out of school while he had his own kids in private schools, in person.”

The Florida Governor also added that Newsom was “very good at spinning these tales,” and the internet was quick to respond.

Internet reacts to Ron DeSantis’ claims against Gavin Newsom

After Ron DeSantis’ remarks in the first part of the debate on Fox News, the internet responded as they showcased how impressed they were with the Florida governor, as opposed to Gavin Newsom.

One user wrote, “And DeSantis takes round one by knockout. 🤷🏻‍♂️,” and another wrote, “We love you!Desantis2024!”

“Well said!” applauded one user, and another wrote, “Ouch that was a good one.”

People continued to applaud DeSantis and did the opposite for Newsom as one user wrote, “DeSantis is sounding very comfortable and stable. Newsom is sounding very practiced and fake,” and another wrote, “You’re crushing it Ron.”
