ALPHARETTA, GEORGIA: Governor of California Gavin Newsom and Governor of Florida Ron DeSantis, who is also currently in the Republican race to become the party’s Presidential nominee, were part of a debate on Fox News, hosted by anchor Sean Hannity.

After the debate, Newsom’s account on X (formerly known as Twitter) was updated with several clips from the debate. The internet, however, rushed to react to one particular remark made by the California governor.

Newsom claimed during the ‘The Great Red vs Blue State Debate’ that DeSantis will endorse former President Donald Trump in the upcoming Presidential elections. At the moment, the Republican candidates competing to become the Presidential nominee are Trump, DeSantis, Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Chris Christie.

Gavin Newsom says ‘Ron will bend the knee’

After the debate on Fox News hosted by Sean Hannity came to an end, the California Governor, who stood opposite Ron DeSantis, took to X to write, “In a matter of weeks, Ron will bend the knee and endorse Donald Trump.”

He shared a brief clip from the debate, where he first spoke about President Joe Biden and said, “Joe Biden will be our nominee in a matter of weeks.”

Newsom then added, “And in a matter of weeks, Sean, he will be endorsing Donald Trump as a nominee for the Republican party.”

Later, Newsom also shared his thoughts on the debate against DeSantis, where he wrote, “That was fun -- I could have kept going!”

People on the internet largely focussed on Gavin Newsom’s remark on Ron DeSantis about endorsing Donald Trump as the Republican nominee, despite his being a candidate at present.

One user wrote, “Gavin, you just bent the knee to Joe Biden for 90 minutes.” Another said, “That’s just pure speculation and Newsome has already endorsed Joe Biden, the most useful nursing home patient the world has ever seen.”

"Man, you just need to shut up... Nobody likes you..." expressed one user and another wrote, "Gavin, you lost tonight."

The internet continued to bash Newsom on the social media platform as one user wrote, "And nobody will bend a knee for you. Ron ate your lunch and took your lunch money loser." One more person also mocked the Governor, writing, "And you will still be nothing."
