DJ sentenced to life behind bars after match on genealogy website implicates him in 1992 murder of elementary school teacher
Raymond Charles Rowe apologized on January 8 this year in the courtroom for murdering Christy Mirack, a 25-year-old elementary school teacher, in her Lancaster apartment in 1992
A popular DJ from Pennsylvania has now pleaded guilty to raping and then strangling a school teacher to death in 1992 after he was linked to a cold case murder when his relative submitted her DNA for use on a popular genealogy website. Raymond Charles Rowe apologized on January 8 in the courtroom for murdering Christy Mirack, a 25-year-old elementary school teacher, in her apartment in Lancaster. Rowe was subsequently sentenced to life behind bars without the possibility of parole.
The case had baffled investigators until the moment authorities used a genealogy database to identify a half-sister of the suspect who was unknown at the time. This led them to 50-year-old Rowe, who incidentally lived just a few miles away from the murder site.
