Raul Alexander Cuevas: Idaho man arrested for fatally stabbing mom's alleged assailant in revenge killing

NAMPA, IDAHO: Raul Alexander Cuevas, a 31-year-old resident of Nampa, Idaho, has been charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of 39-year-old Jesus R Urrutia. The incident occurred only a day after Cuevas’ mother, Michelle E Luna, was fatally stabbed at her residence in the same area.
Urrutia had been identified as the main suspect in Luna’s murder, and multiple law enforcement agencies had been alerted to locate him. Around 8:45 pm on March 28, police and emergency medical services responded to a 911 call reporting a stabbing incident at Luna’s residence, as per a report.

Urrutia was identified as the primary suspect
Upon arrival, officers found Luna with multiple stab wounds and pronounced her dead on the scene. Urrutia was subsequently identified as the primary suspect in her slaying. The following day, authorities were informed of another stabbing victim believed to be Urrutia. Officers arrived at the Avimor gas station parking lot, more than 25 miles away from Nampa, to find Urrutia slumped over in his running car with a sharp force injury wound to his chest. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
'We don't know if it's a revenge killing'
Later that day, deputies located Cuevas at a gas station about 20 miles south of where Urrutia was found. They collected evidence from his car before arresting and transporting him to the Ada County Jail. As the investigation continues, authorities remain unsure of the motive behind Urrutia’s killing. "We don't know if it's a revenge killing. We don't know if it's retaliation, or if there's something else going on that we're not aware of at this point in time," Tim Riha, spokesperson for the Nampa Police Department said as per Law & Crime.
Ada County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Andrea Dearden stated that there is believed to be a connection between the homicide victim and the suspect in this case, but the details are still unknown. The Nampa Police Department has expressed condolences to the families of both victims and has requested the public’s assistance in providing any information they may have regarding the case. Cuevas is currently being held without bond while awaiting trial. As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information about the case to come forward. In the meantime, the community is mourning the tragic loss of two individuals and is seeking answers to this devastating event.
