'We want to bring this child home'
Talking to reporters, Police Chief Anthony Holloway said that the search for the boy is jointly conducted by county, federal, and state authorities. Drones and sniffer dogs are deployed for the search. The police chief said, "It's very urgent, it's all hands on deck right now," and added, "we want to bring this child home." Holloway revealed that the scene of the crime was "very violent on the inside" and said that there were serious concerns for the toddler's safety.
Where is Taylen's father?
In their Lincoln Shores apartment, both mother and son were the only occupants and Holloway confirmed that investigators "know he is not with his father." The mother's death has been ruled as a homicide. "The father of the toddler is a person of interest but does not have the child. This is an active investigation and we will release additional updates as they become available," said St. Petersburg Police spokeswoman Yolanda Fernandez, according to Newsweek.
Police have not yet been able to confirm whether Taylen was at home when his mother was murdered. Authorities have appealed to local residents and neighbors with security cameras for surveillance footage and have also requested anyone with information about the 2-year-old boy.
