Rapper DaBaby takes to social media to explain video of him aggressively shoving hotel employee into chair
The Grammy-nominated rapper DaBaby just can't stop getting into trouble, can he? This time the spotlight is on him after CCTV footage recently obtained by TMZ went viral - the video evidence shows the 'Suge' rapper angrily shoving a security guard at a hotel in Beverly Hills. The 28-year-old singer immediately took to social media to explain his actions in a lengthy Instagram post, saying he had been nagged incessantly by the employee.
It all started when TMZ recently shared a video from December 19th, which showed the North Carolina rapper leaving a Beverly Hills hotel, closely followed by a hotel security guard. The hotel claimed the employee was looking for an autograph from the 'Kirk' star, who refused his request. As the disappointed fan walked back inside, DaBaby followed him and roughly shoved the employee into a chair. He then moved in closer and started poking the guard aggressively on the head several times while talking in a heated manner. The hip-hop artiste then promptly left the scene with two members of his posse.
According to DaBaby however, his actions were justified because he was merely protecting his family and acting in their best interests. He claimed the security guard had recorded him and his two-year-old daughter on his phone without consent, which could have jeopardized the safety of him and his family.
DaBaby elaborated on his actions in a lengthy Instagram post, which can be viewed here. The rapper explained that the "hotel worker you see me 'pushing' came up to me outside the hotel & asked could he record a video of me while I was holding my 2-year-old daughter."
The singer went on to say that "I calmly and respectfully said no and explained to him that him posting a video of me at the time would compromise the safety of me and my child by letting social media know where we were staying." He then said that the employee knowingly overstepped his boundaries by recording him and his daughter from 50 feet away and attempted to post it on Snapchat, despite the rapper declining his initial request for a video.
DaBaby then admitted that he handed over his daughter to her uncle, walked over to the employee and told him to delete the video. He also told him to get back to work since he was still on the clock at the hotel and was acting unprofessionally.
The hip-hop star then explained his subsequent actions, saying "I made him sit down and understand the fact that no video is worth the safety of my child being compromised.Especially after I politely explained to him the reasoning behind me saying no."
The 'Off the Rip' rapper was rather miffed, saying that "his job is to valet park cars, not record customers and violate their privacy, which I'm 100% sure is against employee policy at the hotel." He also pointed that "being a celebrity and being liked by the public is cool & all but ima father before anything and my number 1 priority is providing for and protecting the interest of my child. And anybody that don't respect that, I don't want your respect. [sic]"
DaBaby then signed off by requesting TMZ to tell the Beverly Hills hotel to release the footage of his prior interactions with the security guard, which would further corroborate his story. He also said that he said a "big pretty ass lawsuit" on the way with their name on it.
So there you have it! DaBaby was just being a protective father. We can all heave a huge sigh of relief now... for the time being.
