An Idaho teacher who had suggested that Boise's mayor should 'get laid' by Black Lives Matter members has been fired from her job, as per district officials. The music teacher had taken to Facebook to say that Boise's 'White supremacist hater a**' mayor should get 'laid by BLM members' after which she was let go from her job.

The teacher, Rita Soltesz, worked her last day at the Idaho Fine Arts Academy (IFAA) and Eagle Middle School on Friday, July 31, after she made the comments about Mayor Lauren McLean on July 18. In response to an article on McLean's criticism of White supremacists who had attended a BLM protest, Soltesz had taken to Facebook to share, "Her White supremacist hater a** needs to get laid! by BLM members."

"Should be group activity and make it go viral! I'm still deciding if they should wear masks during the activity," the post read. Soltesz's comments had been viewed by district officials, parents, and school officials. KTVB revealed that another Facebook user had taken screenshots of the post and had sent it to the Idaho Fine Arts Academy's Facebook page.

School officials had confirmed that the district would be taking "immediate action". According to the Statesman, West Ada School District spokesman Eric Exline did not specify whether Soltesz was fired or whether she resigned. "We have received a number of emails from concerned parents and we share their concerns. The statements in the post don't reflect the values of the West Ada School District," Exline said.

Exline has also apologized directly to the IFAA community as well as the Eagle Middle School community for the offensive nature of the statements that had been made by Soltesz. IFAA Secretary Cynthia Anderson spoke to KTVB and said, "My heart dropped when I saw this. This is not what we represent and will not stand for it." IFAA Principal Christian Housel added, "The Facebook post by one of IFAA’s staff does not reflect the values of our school or the West Ada School District."

Soltesz was also slammed on social media for her comments. One such user wrote, "I thought they were going to take immediate action? She is surly not returning this next coming year or @IdahoFineArts will have to remove Idaho from the name cause this is not Idaho values."

"I don’t feel children should be subjected to this person. She shows her true colors and then gets advice from superiors on hiding her ideals while still being able to influence children without record? Your actions speak louder than words," wrote another user.

Yet another user commented saying, "Bye bye, Karen. You may want to go into private practice because is not one decent school district that would have you."

The death of 46-year-old George Floyd in police custody led to widespread and nation-wide outrage after a viral video showed him begging for his life as a now-former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for 8 minutes. Floyd had repeatedly said that he was unable to breathe but the officers involved paid no heed with Floyd losing consciousness and dying. His death led to protests not just in the US but across the world against police brutality and disregard for Black lives.
