Tarantino says his role as Elvis impersonator on 'Golden Girls' helped fund his film 'Reservoir Dogs'
The legendary filmmaker Quentin Tarantino appeared for the first time on 'The Late Night Show Starring Jimmy Fallon'. He recently took home the Golden Globes Award for 'Once Upon A Time In Hollywood' under the 'Best Screenplay of Motion Picture' category.
Over his course as a director, Tarantino's talent and unavoidable quirkiness have gained him an unbeatable reputation. His movies have broken box office records and racked numerous awards.
But, life wasn't all fancy for him before his career witnessed success. In tonight's episode of 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon', the 'Pulp Fiction' director recollected his role on the American comedy-drama series 'The Golden Girls', which aired from 1985 to 1992.
Sharing his experience of getting his hair cut from a rockabilly professional, Tarantino revealed that his role on 'The Golden Girls' as Elvis impersonator helped him finance his movie 'Reservoir Dogs'.
He further explained that his bit from one of the episodes was among several best moments of the show, which continued to air for three years. So each time his bit played on television, he would receive around $600 as the residuals.
In three years, he made close to $3,000, which he later used to back his film 'Reservoir Dogs'. "I thank 'Golden Girls' for 'Reservoir Dogs'," he said.
Fallon's team managed to get hold of Tarantino's scene from the series, in which he was seen dressed as Elvis Presley and dancing gleefully.
In the later segment of tonight's episode, Tarantino talked about picking the music for all his films, which involves him listening to a wide range of records from all possible genres, until he finds the right fit for his movies.
On watching an extremely interesting episode, a fan commented on Twitter, "@FallonTonight @jimmyfallon @theroots @higbones @rockefallon Quentin, Jodie and Nathaniel, and pals, nice show tonight! I loved it! Y'all made my pal's/her boyfriend's day/night tonight! I laughed and smiled throughout it all."
