HENLEY-ON-THAMES, OXFORDSHIRE: A stunt double will serve 18 months in jail after pushing his ex-girlfriend as he lost his temper in an argument over who would shut the gate and turn off a light. In an instance of domestic abuse, 53-year-old Gary Connery, who parachuted into the opening ceremony of 2012 dressed as the monarch, was found guilty of causing major physical injury. The incident happened In October 2020 when the pair was drinking alcohol and she ended up with a broken shoulder and a cut to her head.

He performed doubling for the Queen at the London Olympics and jumped from a helicopter. During the second lockdown, Connery of Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, pushed Tanya Brass, his ex-girlfriend down the stairs after slamming her head against a banister. During the sentence hearing on Tuesday, August 16, the court claimed Connery had "absolutely no remorse" for hurting his formal girlfriend, Brass and had not admitted guilt.

Connery, who was in the dock at Oxford Crown Court on Tuesday wearing a white shirt and a pink, orange, and yellow-striped tie, blinked 13 times as the sentence was pronounced before turning to face the public gallery. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison, and he must complete half of that term before being eligible for parole. A restraining order was also placed against him and is still in effect until further orders.

Daily Mail reported the victim Connery's former girlfriend's statement read out in court by the prosecutor Jonathan Stone. I said, "the assault has also had a massive impact on my mental health. I am seeing a counselor and I don't know how I would have gone through this without their support. I want Gary to take responsibility for what he has done." She added in the statement that after undergoing surgery for an upper humerus fracture, she was informed that future operations may be needed.

Sarah O'Kane while defending said that Connery had no prior convictions, and had an excellent reputation prior to the offense. Judge Daly, who sentenced Connery stated, "It is clear that you had an argument late at night. You’d both been drinking and it is clear that you lost your temper. However, she was behaving she did not deserve to be thrown downstairs. Throwing somebody down the stairs, as I am quite satisfied you did, can result in extremely serious injuries. In this case, it resulted in injuries which were serious."

Daly stated that he would sentence the defendant on the grounds that he had pushed her downstairs but had not struck her in the head because the jury had acquitted Connery of the more serious allegation of intentionally hurting.

"Good evening, Mr. Bond," she said as they seemed to board a chopper that took them across London to the Olympic Stadium. Connery, playing the Queen, and Mark Sutton, playing 007, both skydived to the earth before the queen entered the arena and took her seat to cheers and applause.
