The longest-reigning monarch in British history, Queen Elizabeth II, just turned 94 on April 21. Many have wondered what Her Majesty's diet must be like, to help her live such as long, healthy life.

Apparently, the Queen is used to having more than three meals a day and quite a bit of alcohol involved in her diet. So without further ado, let's dive into what Prince William and Harry's grandmother likes to eat in a day.

Pre-breakfast tea

It should come as no surprise to anyone that the Queen, being a typical British woman, likes to start her day with a cup of tea. She prefers a pot of freshly brewed Earl Grey tea with no sugar and a few biscuits. On a day when the monarch is in jolly spirits, she would often feed her pet corgis pieces of these cookies from the table, Insider reported.

Breakfast

Americans would definitely prefer the Queen's choice of breakfast as it typically involves fruit and cereal with a side of toast generally taken with some form of jam or marmalade. On occasions, however, she does treat herself to scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. The Queen is also known to indulge in some fresh truffles around Christmas time.

Pre-lunch drink

Shortly before lunch, the Queen is seen sipping on a very special cocktail made of gin and Dubonnet. She takes it with plenty of ice and a slice of lemon.

Lunch

Having had the first buzz of the day, Her Majesty sits down to a meal comprising of fish "such as a grilled Dover sole on a bed of wilted spinach or with courgettes" or a simple grilled chicken with a salad, according to Bright Side. She is not a fan of having starch like rice, pasta or potatoes for lunch.

Afternoon tea with cakes and sandwiches

Her favorite beverage is repeated in the afternoon along with a honey and cream sponge cake, and the Queen's personal favorite, the chocolate biscuit cake. Also obligatory at High Tea are sandwiches which are mainly of two types - cucumber, smoked salmon, and egg with mayonnaise or ham and mustard. The Queen hates crusts on her sandwiches. On occasions, the Queen also enjoys jam pennies, which are sandwiched bread filled with butter and jam, cut into small penny-sized circles.

Dinner

The Queen always has some form of well-done meat for dinner. Her preference is having meat from local farms, ranging from lamb, beef, mutton, or grouse. One of her absolute favorite dishes is having a Gaelic steak, served with a sauce of mushroom, cream, and whiskey. The meal is finished off by a serving of strawberries or peaches, grown in her greenhouses. Sometimes she prefers having a glass of gin with her dinner.

After-dinner drink

To wrap up her day, the Queen prefers a glass of champagne from any of the eight brands which have been given royal warrants. They include companies like Bollinger, Lanson and Krug.

Dessert

The monarch is famously known for her fondness of dark chocolate. Darren McGrady, a former chef in the royal kitchens, has even branded the Queen a "chocoholic.”
