'Project Runway': 'Self-taught' designer Marquise Foster eliminated, fans wish he joins design school

Marquise failed to impress the judges with his Ashley Longshore print challenge this week but fans believe he has great potential

Marquise Foster's elimination on this week's 'Project Runway' was not a shocker. The designers were tasked to collaborate with artist Ashley Longshore and were challenged to use her bright prints in their outfits. Unfortunately, Marquise's construction was off.

Last week, Shavi Lewis was shown the door for the same reason. His dress was buckling up and to have something so ill-fitted on the show's runway questions the designer's tailoring skills.

However, Marquise did win a challenge but he was also at the bottom three, which gave him a feeling that the ouster was a long time coming. Talking to mentor Christian Siriano at the 'After Show' segment, Marquise appreciated the judges liking the skirt and jacket, and agreed with them about the haphazard stitching of the shirt. He could see that the issue was with the way the shirt looked. It was made using non-stretchy fabric and that made it difficult to get the seams lined where they should be.

"I really haven't practiced as much with someone who is really busty. So this was my first experience. And trying to rush and get it done. It was just a miss for me. I got so much into my head, trying to just please the judges," Marquise said in his defense. To this, Christian said that he had done well with prints earlier and so, he had thought he would kill it this time too. However, Christian did appreciate the cool elements in the garment, adding that the easy vibe about it was great but the fit was where he lost points.

Meanwhile, fans cheered Marquise and praised him for being such a splendid self-taught designer, with some even wishing that he goes to a design school and polishes his skills.

"IMO, Marquise is way more talented & more willing to grow than Victoria. That sucked. #ProjectRunway," a fan wrote.

While another posted: "Wow, Marquise is self-taught! I want him to be able to go to design school so he can finesse his skills. He’s very talented."

"#Marquise is such a talent. Not his day but he really has good ideas. And all self taught. Amazing. Hes gonna go far. #projectrunway," a viewer expressed.

"Aw. I loved every minute of Marquise being on this show. A good person. I hope he can go to school and gain more skills. He’s so talented. #ProjectRunway," another fan posted.

"Damn my brother Marquise went home but I'm I'm proud of him he made It so far & the look on Sergios face when he thought that he was going to be on the top but ended up being safe, looking disgusted in the face was priceless LOL #ProjectRunway," a fan expressed.
